KANSAS CITY — Two people died in an accident just after 1:30a.m. Monday in Kansas City.
A Chevrolet Malibu was eastbound on Martin Luther King at a high rate of speed, according to Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
The eastbound car crossed the double yellow center line into oncoming traffic. The Malibu was struck on the passenger side by a westbound Chevrolet Trax.
The Malibu exited the roadway and struck a utility pole before coming to rest. EMS transported the unrestrained driver and unrestrained passenger of the Malibu to a local hospital where they were both pronounced deceased.
EMS also transported the driver and passenger of the Trax to a local hospital in serious condition. The accident is still under investigation. Police have not released names of the victims. This is fatality #15 and #16 in KCMO compared to #5 at this time last year.
