NWS confirms 2 tornadoes struck northeast Kansas

WABAUNSEE COUNTY—A National Weather Service storm survey found two tornadoes from Wednesday storms, both preliminarily rated EF-2, according to the National Weather Service in Topeka.

The first tornado occurred at 7:45p.m. in largely rural area of Wabaunsee County between Alta Vista and Alma. It had maximum winds of 115mph, traveled 8.8 miles in 30 minutes and was approximately 400 yards wide.

The second tornado occurred at 8:27p.m. just outside of Rossville in Shawnee County.

It had estimated peak winds of 120 mph, traveled 4.7 miles in 19 minutes and was approximately 200 yards wide. There were no injuries reported from the tornadoes.
