SHAWNEE COUNTY —One person was injured in a fire at a business in Topeka.

Just after 1 p.m. Monday, crews responded to a reported fire in a furnace used in the manufacturing process at Mainline Printing. 3500 SW Topeka Boulevard in Topeka, according to spokesperson Rosie Nichols.

As they arrived, firefighters found smoke coming from the building. They quickly located and extinguished the fire.  All occupants were able to evacuate.

One person was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

It was determined the fire did not originate in the furnace, but in an exhaust fan in the roof. The total estimated loss associated with the incident is approximately $252,500, with $2,500 associated with structural loss and approximately $250,000 associated with content loss.
