LABETTE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating an accidental shooting that left a Kansas woman dead.
Just before 5p.m. January 13, sheriff's deputies and Kansas Wildlife and Parks officers responded to the incident at the Grand Osage Wildlife area 16500 Saline Road in Oswego, according to the Labette County Sheriff.
The reporting person identified as Derek Hall of rural Oswego told deputies after finishing deer hunting, he and his wife returned to their vehicle.
Hall stated that he laid his rifle down on the back seat of their pickup and attempted to unload it. When he took the rifle off safe it went off, striking his wife, 62-year-old Christina Hall.
Upon EMS arriving they immediately transported Christina Hall to Labette Health, where she died. The sheriff's office released no additional details on Tuesday.
