Kan. crop sprayer makes emergency landing, strikes trees

OSBORNE COUNTY —A Kansas pilot avoided injury in an accident that occurred just before 9p.m. Saturday in Osborne County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1991 Air Tractor crop sprayer piloted by Garrett Handley, 24,  Palco, lost power at west 230th drive just off U.S. 281 ten miles South of Osborne.

As the pilot attempted an emergency landing the wing struck a tree branch causing the aircraft to spin into the north ditch and  strike a second tree.

Handley was not injured.  The cause of the crash is remains under investigation.
