DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nebraska —Law enforcement authorities are investigating the death of a 10-year-old boy.
Just after 11:30p.m. Thanksgiving, officers responded to 1112 N 31st Avenue for a report of a shooting, according to a media release.
When officers arrived they found Kendrick McDonald suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken by Omaha Fire Department personnel to Nebraska Medicine where he later died.
Police arrested the boy's father identified as 47-year-old Will McDonald on a requested charge of criminal homicide, use of a weapon-gun, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Police released no additional details.
