Stabbing: Woman charged in KC's first homicide of 2024

KANSAS CITY —A Kansas City woman was charged in connection with the Jan. 3, 2024, fatal attack involving a sharp-edged weapon inside the vehicle of the victim, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

Janee Davis, 34, faces Voluntary Manslaughter and Armed Criminal Action charges

According to court records,  On Jan. 3, Kansas City police officers were dispatched  to a residence on Agnes and found the victim in the front yard.

He had sustained an sharp weapon injury to his chest. He was  pronounced deceased. Investigators determined that the victim was likely attacked while sitting inside his vehicle parked on the street. A blood trail from his body in the yard led to his vehicle. Police were alerted to a statement from a witness identifying the defendant as the victim's killer. The defendant was questioned by police and she told them the victim flagged her down at 35th and Prospect on Jan. 3, 2024. At the crime scene on Agnes, the defendant told police she stabbed the victim after he hit her with his open hand.
