Fatal Kan. train, pedestrian incident remains under investigation

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement and railroad officials continue investigating a fatal accident in Topeka.

Just after 5p.m. Tuesday, a Union Pacific train struck and killed an individual near N Kansas Ave and NE Norris Street, according to Meg Siffring with Union Pacific.

The train crew was not injured. Union Pacific is working with local authorities to understand what led up to the incident.  Train operations resumed about 9:15 p.m. Tuesdayt

The name of the victim has not been released.
