KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities continue their investigation of a weekend shooting during a basketball tournament at North Kansas City High School and provided an update on the two victims.
On Saturday afternoon, police responded after two people were shot outside the High School, 620 E 23rd Ave, North Kansas City, as North Kansas City Hornets and Staley Falcons were participating in the Class 6 District 8 High School Basketball Tournament. The school was also hosting a debate tournament Saturday evening, according to the school web site.
According to police, the juvenile victim is a North Kansas City High School student, who had non-life-threatening injuries and was listed in stable condition on Sunday afternoon. The second victim is an adult and listed in stable condition and is not affiliated with the NKC School District.
Police continue to work with the NKC School District to ensure that students will return to school Monday with the proper support.
