Commissioners are scheduled to consider approving a sidewalk cafe license agreement with Wheat State Hospitality, Inc., for an outdoor dining area on Campbell Plaza adjacent to the south of the Prickly Pear Grill & Cantina, 123 S. Santa Fe Avenue in downtown Salina.
According to information in the city commission meeting packet, a public walkway across the south end of Campbell Plaza would be separated from the outdoor dining area by a three-foot-tall metal fence. The outdoor area to be used by the Prickly Pear Grill & Cantina would include tables, chairs, and open recreation areas.

In October, the city moved the overhead structure from the Campbell Plaza stage to a new stage location on the southwest corner of the N. Santa Fe Avenue/W. Ash Street intersection, moving forward the idea of the Prickly Pear using part of Campbell Plaza for outdoor seating/recreation. Under the proposed agreement, a new stage area would be constructed on the east end of Campbell Plaza.
