KANSAS CITY—One person died in an accident just before 7p.m. Thursday in Kansas City.
A Saturn Vue was northbound on Troost Avenue at President Avenue at a high rate of speed, according to KCPD Captain Corey Carlisle.
The driver lost control of his vehicle and it left the roadway to the left, struck a utility pole guide wire and a large tree.
The driver was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. He was not wearing his seatbelt and impairment is under investigation, according to Carlisle.
The front seat passenger received minor injuries; he was wearing his seatbelt. Police have not released the name of the victim.
