FINNEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities captured a unique suspect after a call for help in southwest Kansas.
Just after noon Saturday police responded the the historic Finnup Homes after a motion sensor set off a burglary alarm upstairs in one of the homes, according to a social media report from Garden City police.
Officers located the intruder, according to Amy Heineman, Executive Assistant for the Finnup Trustees. It was a small dove that made its way inside.
“At first I thought I should have just checked it out myself and not bothered the police, but I’m so glad they were there,” says Heineman on social media. “I have no idea what I would have done! And he (the officer) just sprung into action. I want to express my sincere appreciation for Officer Ralston catching this little intruder today."
Officer Brecken Ralston caught the bird in one of the bedrooms and remove it from the residence.
"Thank you for the support and sharing this story, Amy, police responded on their social media page. " We’ll be laughing about this one for awhile too. And no worries everyone, the dove was captured and released safely." Click here for more information on the Finneup Trust.
