SHAWNEE COUNTY —The City of Topeka boil water advisory is expected to be in effect until at least Friday, according to a statement from the city on Monday afternoon.
On Sunday, City of Topeka reported that their utilities staff had been working since early Sunday morning to identify and resolve the low chlorine residual levels coming out of the Topeka Water Treatment Plant.
City staff identified a mechanical issue that is believed to be the cause of the low chlorine levels. Repairs were made and chemical dosing was anticipated to resume in normal operation and fresh water was beginning to run through lines. The city continues to work with KDHE to test and make certain the water is safe.
