SEDGWICK COUNTY—Police arrested a 15-year-old in connection with alleged threats made against Via Christi St. Joseph Hospital, 3600 East Harry in Wichita.
Just after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the hospital after staff reported receiving multiple phone calls from an unknown person threatening to shoot up the hospital, according to a media release from Wichita Police. As a precaution, the hospital implemented restricted access while continuing to provide emergency care.
Throughout the afternoon, investigators, with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, worked to identify the person responsible for the threats.
At approximately 6 p.m., Wichita police took a 15-year-old boy into custody. He was booked into the Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center (JIAC) on a requestd charge of criminal threat.
