SUMNER COUNTY —A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper went above and beyond earlier this month to help deliver a baby.

According to a social media report from the KHP, the special delivery occurred just after 4a.m. January 12, on northbound Interstate 35, the Kansas Turnpike Authority, near the southern terminal plaza.

KHP Master Trooper Da'Von Brame received a call of a family heading to the hospital to have a baby, and they weren't going to make it, according to the social media report from the agency.

Master Trooper Brame and the father helped deliver the baby boy roadside just shortly after they stopped on the shoulder of the turnpike.

Baby Pierson had arrived!. Mom, Dad, and KHP's newest Junior Trooper Pierson made their way to the hospital and all are doing great.

"Pierson and his big brother will always have a KHP Trooper Bear watching out for them! Congratulations to the Rosales family."
