
SEDGWICK COUNTY —A mother accused in the death of her 4-year-old son made her first court appearance on Wednesday.
A Sedgwick County judge charged 27-year-old Tyne Blunt with first-degree murder and aggravated endangering a child, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

On Tuesday, police arrested Blunt in connection with the death of 4-year-old Tirui Blunt-Porrata.
The arrest follows a Dec. 8 incident in the 2600 block of South Topeka in Wichita, where officers responded to a report of an unresponsive child at approximately 3:21 p.m. EMS transported the child to a local hospital in critical condition. The child was pronounced dead at 4:07 p.m.

A 34-year-old Daniel Martin was initially arrested and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail where he was charged with Felony Murder and Child Abuse and remains in custody.
Following further investigation, detectives presented the case to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office. An arrest warrant was issued for the 27-year-old mother, who was taken into custody and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail. Blunt is being held on a a $750,000 bond and is scheduled to return to court on December 29, according to the district attorney's office.
