Police ID couple who died in crash across parking lot of KC business

KANSAS CITY—Police have released the names of two people who died in an accident just before 9:30a.m. Friday, September 25, in Kansas City, Missouri. The driver has been identified as 68-year-od Mark Hatcher and the front seat passenger was 61-year-old Karen Hatcher. 

According to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino. a preliminary investigation revealed that a silver Jeep Cherokee driven by Mark Hatcher was southbound on Interstate 435 just north of Front Street.

The Jeep traveled off the roadway to the righ, continued through the grassy shoulder and down the embankment. The Jeep continued through a metal fence and across the parking lot of the business located at 6920 Executive Drive. The Jeep then struck the front of a parked semi-trailer before coming to rest. Both the driver and passenger were declared deceased at the scene.  They both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, according to DiMartino.

This is fatality # 52 and #53 compared to #50 at this time last year.
