2 SW Kansas men going to prison for violent robbery, murder

FINNEY COUNTY —Two men are going to prison for their role in a robbery and murder in southwest Kansas.

Dalton S. Pister, 31, Garden City, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and  Alexander Goetting, 20, Garden City, was convicted of 2nd degree murder in the February 2022 death of 36-year-old Hector Flores, according to the Finney County Attorney's office.

Just before 10:30 a.m. February 13, 2022 police were dispatched to report of a shooting in the 800 block of N. 5th Street in Garden City.

Officers located Jesus Hector Flores, 36, of  Garden City, KS, who had been shot. EMS transported Flores to St. Catherine Hospital where he later died.

Through the investigation police identified Goetting and Pister as being involved in the shooting.

Police located Goetting and took him into custody. Pister was located and arrested in Scott City..

Pister was sentenced to spend just over 17-years in the Kansas Department of Corrections. Goetting was sentenced to just over 41-years in the Kansas Department of Corrections. Both must also register as violent offenders.
