Pickup struck State Trooper's vehicle at scene of earlier crash

KANSAS CITY —One person was injured in an accident involving a State Trooper just before 10a.m. Tuesday in Jackson County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2022 Dodge Ram driven by Jeremiah D. Buckner, 32, Buckner, Missouri, was westbound on Interstate 70 just west of the Blue Springs exit.

The pickup traveled off the road, struck a concrete media and the drivers side rear of a 2021 Dodge MSHP vehicle that was stationary with emergency lights activated and behind a 2020 Ford driven by Jeffrey A. Napier, 43, Warrenton, Missouri, that had been involved in a previous crash.

After impact with the trooper's vehicle, the pickup struck the Ford from the earlier crash.

CIC Fire transported Harrison to Centerpoint Hospital. Napier and  Trooper Matthew J. Hanrahan, 40, Lee's Summit, were not transported but the MSHP reported he will be sore.  The estimated damage to the patrol car is $20,000.
