RED WILLOW COUNtY, Neb. —Authorities investigating a deadly small plane crash in southwest Nebraska have released additional details.
According to the city of McCook, just before noon Monday, a single-engine Piper PA-46 piloted by Clifton Coffman, 79, Shreveport, Louisiana, crashed in the back yard of a residence in the 1400 Block of East C Street. Coffman died from his injuries.
The passenger identified as Henry Richter, 65, also from Shreveport remains hospitalized for treatment of his injuries.
The crashed occurred 1/8 of a mile southwest of the McCook Ben Nelson Regional Airport property, according to McCook City Manager Nate Schneider. There were no other injuries reported.
McCook is located 28 miles north of Oberlin, Kansas. The NTSB and FAA are in charge of the crash investigation.
