SEDGWICK COUNTY —A Kansas teen accused in the deadly shooting of a 16-year-old Kansas boy made his first court appearance in the case Thursday.
Tyshon Jacques, 18, was charged with 2nd degree intentional murder, according to the Sedegwick County District Attorney's office.
Just before 3:30 p.m. Oct. 2, police were dispatched to a shooting call at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and 3rd Street in Wichita, according to Officer Juan Rebilledo.
The calling party reported seeing a slow-moving vehicle hit a pole and several people exiting the vehicle and running in different directions.
First responders located 18-year-old Jaqualen Dupree of Wichita. inside the vehicle he was driving unconscious and with an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body. Officers and EMS personnel began providing life-saving efforts. Dupree was transported to a local hospital in critical condition where he was later pronounced deceased by medical staff.
On Tuesday, police reported the arrest of an 18-year-old Jacques. He remains jailed on a $500,000 bond, according to the district attorney's office.
