Police to present case against 2nd suspect in Kansas murder

 SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities continue their investigation of a January murder in Wichita.  According to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office, police will present their case Wednesday against a second suspect identified as 27-year-old Robert Howland in the death of 35-year-old LaDonte Ostrander. 

On January 22, Yancy Hermosillo, 27, was charged with 2nd degree murder in the  shooting, according to the District Attorney's office.

On Jan. 16, police responded to a 911 call reporting gunshots in the 1000 block of S. Market, according to Officer Juan Rebolledo. 

In the 900 block of S. Market Street, first responders discovered Ostrander with a gunshot wound to his lower extremities. Sedgwick County EMS transported him in critical condition to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

 On January 18, police arrested Hermosillo, according to online arrest records.

Just after 2a.m. January 20, police arrested 27-year-old Robert Howland in the 1300 block of S. Santa Fe in Wichita in connection with the death of Ostrander.

Hermosillo remains jailed on bonds totaling over 10 million dollars, according to online jail records.

Hermosillo has previous felony convictions for domestic battery, criminal threat,  and aggravated interference with parental custody, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
