Student took bottles of wine in burglary on Kan. college campus

ATCHISON COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a burglary on a college campus and have made an arrest.

On Wednesday, police were involved in an investigation with Benedictine College Security focusing on the theft of wine bottles from Ferrell Hall, 1020 N 2nd Street in Atchison on the Benedictine College Campus, according to Police Chief Mike Wilson.

It was determined the theft occurred around 2a.m. on Sunday. 

Just after 1:30p.m. Wednesday, police took a student identified as 22-year-old Matthew Hockel of Brentwood, California, into custody on campus.  Hockel is being held in the Atchison County jail on requested charges of burglary and theft, according to Wilson.
