WYANDOTTE COUNTy —A suspect is currently hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after an overnight officer involved shooting in Kansas City, Kansas.
Just before3a.m. Monday, a resident at an apartment complex near 61st and Leavenworth Road called 911 to report an individual firing a gun in the complex parking lot.
When officers arrived on scene, they encountered a man armed with a rifle and positioned in an open window on the second floor of an apartment building.
The officer fired a single shot striking the suspect in the shoulder. He was then taken into custody and transported to an area hospital.
As per Department policy, this incident is being investigated by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
