2 dead in Kansas house fire on New Year's Eve

BARBER COUNTY—Law enforcement and fire officials are investigating a deadly Kansas house fire.

On New Year's Eve, the Medicine Lodge Fire Department and Barber County Sheriff contacted the Kansas Office of the State Fire Marshal’s (OSFM) Investigation Division to assist in the investigation of house fire at 401 West Stolp Street in Medicine Lodge, according to a media release.

Investigators learned the fire department had discovered two fatalities in the home.

Investigators determined that the fire originated within the garage of the property.  The cause of the fire is currently classified as undetermined. The victims have not been positively identified at this time.
