WASHINGTON COUNTY —A Manhattan man died in an accident just after 12:30p.m. Tuesday in Washington County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2020 Chevy Silverado driven by Brian L Dowling, 46, Manhattan, was eastbound on U.S. 36 five miles east of Cuba, Kansas.
The driver was attempting to pass another vehicle, didn't return to the driving lane and struck a westbound 2023 Peterbilt semi driven by Wayne M Thomsen, 71, Waterville.
EMS transported Dowling to the Washington County Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Thomsen was not injured. Dowling was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
