17-year-old Kan. girl critically injured after struck by vehicle

WYANDOTTE COUNTY —A pedestrian suffered critical injuries just before 9p.m. Tuesday after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Village Parkway West and France Family Drive in Kansas City, Kansas.

The pedestrian, a 17 year-old girl was crossing Village Parkway West at the intersection with France Family Drive, when she was struck by a northbound vehicle, according to a media release.

EMS transported her to an area hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with police. The preliminary investigation does not indicate weather, speed or driver impairment were contributing factors.

The accident occurred during the weather-delayed start of a U.S. Open Cup Match at Children’s Mercy Park.
