Police need video, photos of gunfire at Kan. shopping mall

JOHNSON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating two suspects in connection with a shooting  at a Kansas mall are asking the public for any phone videos or photos taken of the incident, according to a social media report from Overland Park Police.

Just before 4:30p.m. Sunday, police responded to an armed disturbance at the Oak Park Mall in 11400 block of W.95th in Overland Park, according to Officer John Lacy.

As the two male suspects were trying to exit the mall near the food court, three plain clothes detectives identified themselves and attempted to apprehend both suspects.

During the apprehension, one male suspect resisted arrest, a struggle occurred, and the suspect was able to obtain one of the detective’s issued firearm.

The suspect was able to pull the trigger, firing one shot. This suspect was apprehended. The other suspect ran north of the mall and was immediately apprehended. No one was injured in this incident.

Police released no additional details.
