SEWARD COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal southwest Kansas shooting.
Early December 17, 2023 the Seward County Sheriff's Office responded to report of a gunshot victim at a property in rural Seward County, according to Sheriff Gene Ward.
First responders located 39-year-old Jose Luis Rios-Favela with gunshot wounds. Seward County EMS transported him to Southwest Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.
A second victim was located at the scene with minor injuries. The Seward County Sheriff's Office requested KBI assistance.
KBI agents and the Crime Scene Response Team responded to assist in the investigation. The sheriff's office indicated the shooting was an isolated incident and there is no cause for alarm in the area.
