KC man, who is missing a leg, accused of multiple rapes

KANSAS CITY —A Kansas City man faces multiple felony counts in connection with sexual assaults of women over the last 13 years in Kansas City, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

Warren E. Carter, 64, faces Kidnapping, Forcible Sodomy, Forcible Rape, two counts of Kidnapping in the First Degree, three counts of Sodomy or Attempted Sodomy in the 1st Degree, two counts of Rape or Attempted Rape in the 1st Degree.

According to court record filed Friday, over the years Carter has targeted and assaulted women in Kansas City. He offered them a ride or forced them into his vehicle by threatening them with a firearm. He then drove them to a secluded area and assaulted them, forcing them to perform oral sex or raping them. These charges relate to sexual assaults in July 2012, May 2017 and October and December 2019. Carter has a distinctive characteristic, he is missing his right leg. DNA linking the defendant to two of these assaults currently exists.

Carter was taken into custody late Sunday and is being held on a $200,000 bond.
