KANSAS CITY—A Kansas City man has been charged in the fatal shooting Wednesday of Abdullahi Yussuf as he was a passenger in a vehicle driven by the defendant, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.
Ibrahim Abdikarim Sharif Ahmed, 38, faces Murder 2nd Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and two counts of Armed Criminal Acion Criminal Action.
According to court records, Kansas City Police Department officers were dispatched late on March 15, to the area of Independence and Garfield avenues, where witnesses told police that a Dodge Challenger or Charger had driven down Independence Avenue when the driver shoved someone out of the vehicle in motion.
The victim was Abdullahi Yussuf who was pronounced deceased at an area hospital. KCPD analysts matched the Dodge vehicle's license plate to Ahmed and took him into custody. A witness told police she was in the vehicle during the shooting. She heard shots from inside the car and observed the victim with blood on his face. While driving the Ahmed told the witness to get the victim out of the vehicle. The witness later notified police. a $150,000 bond.
