KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a violent knife attack.
Just after 9p.m. August 22, police were dispatched to a cutting at the Gabriel Tower apartment complex in the 1600 Block of Jackson in Kansas City, according to Police Captain Corey Carlisle.
First responders located a victim later identified as 60-year-old Lambert Smalls in a parking lot with apparent bodily trauma. Smalls was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. On Wednesday, police reported he died.
A suspect has been taken into custody. Circumstances leading to the assault appeared to be a disturbance between Smalls and the suspect.
The Medical Examiner ruled this incident a homicide. This is the 138th homicide in KCMO this year. Police have not released the name of the suspect or possible charges.
