WILSON COUNTY—Two people died in an accident just before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in Wilson County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2020 Chevy Express van driven by Dustin Hale, 29, Rogers, Arkansas, was eastbound on U.S. 400 three miles from Kansas 47 Highway.
The van crossed the center line and struck a 2022 Ford Escape driven by Scott Allen Bryant, 52, Wichita, head-on. After impact the SUV spun counter clockwise into the eastbound ditch where it caught fire.
Hale and Bryant were pronounced dead at the scene. Hale was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP. The agency had not seat belt information for Bryant.
