Sheriff: Search continues for Kansas man missing since June 13

BUTLER COUNTY —The Butler County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in the search fo 77-year-old Fred Dieter, missing from rural Augusta since the evening of June 13, 2026, according to Undersheriff Daimon Cudiff

Mr. Dieter walked away from his home that evening. He left in an unknown direction and is not believed to be utilizing a vehicle.. Fred  has the beginning stages of dementia. He was wearing jeans, a blue shirt and ball cap at the time he left. He is described as 5-foot-9 and weighs 175pounds. He has brown eyes, and grey hair and beard. If seen or have any information please contact the Butler County Emergency Communications Center at 316-320-1294 or the Butler County Sheriff’s Office at 316-322-4254. 

At 9a.m. on Tuesday July 28, sheriff's deputies will be on SW Boyer Road at the overpass to US Highway 54. This is located south of SW 100th on Boyer Road. Deputies will have a map of the and intend to search and are again going to ask for the public to search their land, buildings, etc. as well as ask that they reach out if they have any information. The Sheriff will provide more that morning, according to Cundiff.
