17-year-old turns himself in for killing Kansas man

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal shooting and have made an arrest.

Just before 5p.m. Thursday, , police were alerted to a shooting incident in the 2200 Block of N. Grove in Wichita, according to Police spokesperson Andrew Ford.

First responders discovered 20-year-old Jaden Wilson outside of a gold Buick, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced deceased at 5:46 p.m. by Sedgwick County Emergency Medical Services.

A witness in the vehicle at the time of the incident was able to provide officers with details that quickly led to the identification of the suspect.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect were acquainted and involved in an ongoing dispute, the specifics of which remain under investigation.

A short time after the shooting occurred, the suspect voluntarily surrendered to law enforcement at the Sedgwick County Jail. The juvenile suspect has been arrested on a requested charge of First Degree Murder and Criminal Discharge into an Occupied Vehicle, according to Ford. The teen is currently held at the Juvenile Detention Facility.
