SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident in Topeka.
Just after 10:30p.m. Wednesday, police and emergency services were dispatched to an injury accident of a vehicle versus a pedestrian in the 2200 block of SE 37th Street, near Lake Shawnee, in Topeka, according to Topeka Police Lt. Kerry Connell. A 14-year-old victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
SE 37th Street was closed in both directions from SE Long to SE Lakeshore Blvd. for several hours while police investigated. Police released no additional details.
