DOUGLAS COUNTY —Two people were injured in an accident just before 4 p.m. Wednesday in Douglas County.

A Ford Escape was southbound on County Road 1061 just east of Baldwin City and north of U.S. Highway 61, according sheriff's department spokesperson George Diepenbrock.

The SUV struck the back tire of a Douglas County John Deere tractor in the area to mow.

EMS transported the driver of the tractor to LMH Health, and the driver of the SUV to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Neither injuries were believed to be life threatening, according to Diepenbrodk.  The sheriff's office did not release names of the drivers.

The sheriff’s office reminded drivers to be cautious this time of year in rural areas as tractors are mowing ditches.
