Kan. juvenile suspects had loaded AK47 pistol, stolen Glock handgun

JOHNSON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating three suspects on multiple charges after a traffic stop in Johnson County.

Last week, a nightshift officer was patrolling around midnight when he observed a suspicious vehicle leaving an apartment complex in Lenexa at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle committed a traffic violation and the officer attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle took off but was no match for the dispatchers who followed it using traffic cameras.

Dispatchers kept officers updated on the vehicle route, and one of Lenexa K9 officer positioned his vehicle to intercept the suspects. Using the Grappler Police Bumper, the officer brought the fleeing car to a stop.

Police arrested three suspects, including 2 juveniles. Inside the car was a loaded AK47 pistol and a stolen Glock handgun with a high-capacity drum magazine.

All 3 suspects have since been charged by the Johnson County District Attorney's Office.
