A seventeen point differential in turnovers told most of the story from the Barton Gym Saturday night as the top ranked Barton Community College men's basketball team had its 35-game win streak snapped 74-71 to Cowley College.

The contest featured seven ties and 11 lead changes, the last leaving Cowley on top for the final 4:35 with the Cougars' 18th turnover providing the final back breaker with twenty-six seconds remaining resulting in a costly point swing.

Barton's loss comes coincidentally enough, one year and a day from the last time Cowley visited the Barton Gym to win their third straight on the Cougars' floor.

The Cougars slip to 3-1 in conference play and 8-1 overall while Cowley remains unblemished in KJCCC action at 4-0 improving to 9-1 on the season.

Next up is Wednesday's trip to El Dorado taking on Butler Community College for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.

Barton received all its scoring from its starters with Cowley owning a 14-point advantage from the bench play.

Leading the Tigers was 24 points coming from Marcus Ziegler, knocking down four of the Tigers' seven three-pointers matching Kindell's 4-of-9 shooting performance beyond the arc.

Shamarrie Hugie posted a 19-point, 11-rebound double-double effort as Marcus Ziegler canned 2-of-4 arc busters for a 15 point evening.

6-Man at Greensburg The Kansas State High School Activities Association sanctioned 6-man football three years ago with Cunningham winning the first title. With an appearance Saturday, the Wildcats have now appeared in all three state championship games. Despite overcoming a 35-14 halftime lead, the Wildcats missed a crucial 2-point kick late in the game, falling to Weskan 49-48.

"We knew we had a good football team," said Weskan coach Brett Clow. "We knew Cunningham had a great football team. You're just trying find ways to stay in the game. In 6-man, the game is never over. Credit to them for staying in the fight and making it a fight. I'm just so proud of my guys to finish the game."

The Coyotes got a 41-yard touchdown pass from sophomore Karsyn Wright to senior Trexton Allen midway through the third quarter to lead 43-20. Weskan would not score again until, trailing 48-42, Wright broke free for a 30-yard touchdown run with 1:42 remaining. Weskan scored with 3:15 remaining to take a 48-43 lead. Point-after kicks in the 6-man game are worth two points but after a 5-yard penalty, the PAT following the touchdown was blocked.

Wegerer threw for 309 yards and seven touchdowns on 30-of-52 passing for Cunningham. Five of those touchdowns came in the second half. 

Wright threw for 97 yards on 4-of-5 passing for Weskan, adding 109 rushing yards on 18 carries.

Weskan caps a perfect 13-0 season. Cunningham, which went 42 days without real action due to forfeits, finishes its season at 11-1.

8-Man, Div. II at Greensburg Andale still holds the Kansas record for most consecutive wins in the 11-man game. But Axtell took over the overall lead this year and extended the streak to 52 games with a convincing 50-0 win against Victoria in Saturday morning's title game in Greensburg. The previously unbeaten Knights had outscored opponents this season 668-94. Axtell has now won four consecutive Div. II titles.

8-Man, Div. I at Greensburg Saturday's late game featured unbeaten Hoxie and a resurgent Central Plains team. Hoxie won a title in 2017 and Central Plains followed in 2018. The Indians just missed a chance to end the game in the first half. Instead, Hoxie needed just four plays to reach the 45-point rule less than two minutes into the third quarter.

"We came in here knowing not to underestimate them," said Hoxie senior Duncan Bell, who threw for five touchdowns. "These guys have played four games and they've been able to stay close and come out on top in the last seconds of a couple. We knew if we could run the score up and take it so far they couldn't stay in the game, eventually we hoped they'd shut down."

Bell completed 10 of 14 passes for 204 yards and four touchdowns in the first half. His final prep pass went for 28 more yards and a touchdown as he finished the night with 232 yards and five scores on 11-of-15 passing. 

Central Plains ran no offensive plays in the second half. The Oilers netted just 38 rushing yards on 19 carries in the first half. Sophomore quarterback Brodie Crites completed 3 of 10 passes for 15 yards.

Hoxie ends its season at 13-0, while Central Plains closes the 2024 campaign at 10-3 with losses to Victoria, Ell-Saline, and Hoxie.

Class 1A at Hutchinson Community College After winning the title in 2023, Conway Springs spent the 2024 season ranked atop the class with a perfect record. The Cardinals went virtually untested in this year's playoffs, with a 15-point win over Marion in week 10 being the closest contest for the reigning champs. Centralia had not lost a game to a Kansas opponent this spring but fell to Conway 41-6 in Saturday's title game.

The Cardinals did it all on the ground with 386 yards and no pass attempts. Senior Isaac Winter rushed for 227 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries, and also gave up a touchdown so a teammate could score.

Class 2A at Hutchinson Community College With just two title games slated for Friday, many in the state caught a spectacle as it was televised on PBS Friday evening. A week after needing a last-second play to get by Beloit, Southeast of Saline scored twice in the final two minutes to knock off two-time defending champion Nemaha Central 36-28.

Despite several years of success, the Trojans were playing in just their first state title game since 2005. 

Thunder standout quarterback Carter Hajek, still a junior, ran the ball 14 of his team's 16 plays on a drive the culminated with his go-ahead touchdown with 1:50 to play in regulation. Just as he did a week earlier against Beloit, Trojan quarterback Gannon Jacobson quickly drove Southeast down the field in just five plays, scoring on a 4-yard run, then throwing a 2-point pass to tie the game.

With under a minute to play on the ensuing kick, Nemaha Central failed to grab a kick by Malachi Hopkins. Southeast took advantage. Facing fourth down, Jacobson completed a 29-yard pass to Tucker Thaxton for the go-ahead score with just 11 seconds left on the clock.

Jacobson threw for 114 yards and two scores on 8-of-16 passing. He added another 85 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Grady Gebhart rushed for 99 yards and had a rushing and a receiving score.

After a loss in week one, Nemaha Central rattled off 11 straight wins to finish the season at 11-2. Southeast of Saline capped a perfect 13-0 season.

Class 3A at Hutchinson Community College Andale lost its nation-best win streak last year with not one but two losses against eventual state champion Andale. The Indians have played the 2024 season with a vengeance. That carried over into Saturday's championship game with a 36-19 win against Topeka Hayden.

Sam Harp rushed for 163 yards and Landon Harp added 148 yards on the ground.

Prior to Saturday's finale, Andale had scored at least 47 points in all 12 games this season, reaching 55 points in seven of those games. The Indian defense held eight of its first 10 opponents to one touchdown or fewer with four shutouts.

Class 4A at Emporia State University Even entering the playoffs with a 1-7 record, Bishop Miege could not be counted out for another state title after wins in 2022, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, and 2014. Andover Central had other plans, winning the first 4A public-school title since 2013 by taking down the Stags 49-42. The win is also Central's first state title in school history.

Senior Maddux Archibald carried his team with 345 rushing yards and four touchdowns. 

Miege had previously outscored its four playoff opponents 140-46. With a 22-16 blemish against Goddard in week five of the season, Andover Central closes its season at 12-1.

Class 5A at Emporia State University Few teams play St. Thomas Aquinas as a favorite. That was par for the course for a Hays High team playing in its first-ever state championship game Saturday evening, but only after knocking off the likes of Great Bend, Hutchinson, and Goddard-Eisenhower to keep its season alive. With a 35-13 loss to Aquinas, Hays ends its season at 8-5 with losses against 6A Derby (11-1), a Manhattan team that nearly won the 6A title, and a 20-19 loss in the regular-season finale against Liberal. The Indians also split against Great Bend, handing the Panthers their only loss of the season.

Aquinas won the 4A title last year before making the move back to Class 5A and knocking off five-time defending champion Mill Valley by a point in the state quarterfinals. 

Class 6A at Emporia State University Both Friday championship games proved to be classics. Southeast of Saline scored twice in the final two minutes to beat two-time defending champion Nemaha Central in Hutchinson. In Emporia, Manhattan missed an opportunity to run out the clock with a 33-28 lead late in the fourth quarter. Reigning champion Gardner-Edgerton took advantage, scoring with 10 seconds left to secure a 36-33 win.

After winning just six games in 2020, Manhattan has posted a 43-5 record over the past five seasons, including a 13-0 championship season in which it beat Gardner-Edgerton in the title game.

That carried over into Saturday's championship game with a 36-19 win against Topeka Hayden.Sam Harp rushed for 163 yards and Landon Harp added 148 yards on the ground.Prior to Saturday's finale, Andale had scored at least 47 points in all 12 games this season, reaching 55 points in seven of those games. The Indian defense held eight of its first 10 opponents to one touchdown or fewer with four shutouts.Class 4A at Emporia State University Even entering the playoffs with a 1-7 record, Bishop Miege could not be counted out for another state title after wins in 2022, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, and 2014. Andover Central had other plans, winning the first 4A public-school title since 2013 by taking down the Stags 49-42. The win is also Central's first state title in school history.Senior Maddux Archibald carried his team with 345 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Miege had previously outscored its four playoff opponents 140-46. With a 22-16 blemish against Goddard in week five of the season, Andover Central closes its season at 12-1.Class 5A at Emporia State University Few teams play St. Thomas Aquinas as a favorite. That was par for the course for a Hays High team playing in its first-ever state championship game Saturday evening, but only after knocking off the likes of Great Bend, Hutchinson, and Goddard-Eisenhower to keep its season alive. With a 35-13 loss to Aquinas, Hays ends its season at 8-5 with losses against 6A Derby (11-1), a Manhattan team that nearly won the 6A title, and a 20-19 loss in the regular-season finale against Liberal. The Indians also split against Great Bend, handing the Panthers their only loss of the season.Aquinas won the 4A title last year before making the move back to Class 5A and knocking off five-time defending champion Mill Valley by a point in the state quarterfinals. Class 6A at Emporia State University Both Friday championship games proved to be classics. Southeast of Saline scored twice in the final two minutes to beat two-time defending champion Nemaha Central in Hutchinson. In Emporia, Manhattan missed an opportunity to run out the clock with a 33-28 lead late in the fourth quarter. Reigning champion Gardner-Edgerton took advantage, scoring with 10 seconds left to secure a 36-33 win.After winning just six games in 2020, Manhattan has posted a 43-5 record over the past five seasons, including a 13-0 championship season in which it beat Gardner-Edgerton in the title game.

State championship football: A recap of all nine title games

The bounce back was nearly complete Saturday in Greensburg. After winning just two games in the 2022 season, Central Plains won seven games last season and upped the total to 10 games to secure a spot in the 8-Man, Div. I state championship game Saturday at Kiowa County High School in Greensburg. Hoxie, with a perfect season on the line, needed little more than a half to dash any Oiler title dreams with a 46-0 win.

Trouble came early on the coldest night of the season as Central Plains punted the ball away on its first possession. Just five plays later, Hoxie senior Easton Nickelson broke free for a 56-yard touchdown run. Nickelson recovered a fumble on the very next Oiler play, then Bell followed that with a 9-yard touchdown pass to senior Samuel Watkins for a 16-0 Indian lead less than six minutes into the game.

Oiler senior Eli Hurley provided the biggest fireworks for Central Plains on the ensuing kickoff, nearly taking it end to end before being caught by Watkins at the 7-yard line. Four plays later, the Oilers turned the ball over on downs.&nbsp;

"That was a turning point," Bell said. "I think, if they score that right there, I don't think this game's over right now. They're good at staying in with teams and it would have been 16-6, possibly 8. They probably would have been hanging around with us. Sam making that tackle and our defense shutting them out was huge."

Bell, meanwhile, kept rolling. His next two touchdown passes went to senior Trent Fenner on plays of 42 and 41 yards, respectively. Then senior Braydon Scheetz went 42 yards on Bell's fourth touchdown pass of the first half.

Hoxie had two opportunities to end the game by halftime. One drive stalled inside the 5-yard line after a pass attempt in the end zone was ruled incomplete. The Indians took a final possession with 75 seconds left in the first half but could not find the end zone.

Leading 38-0 at the half, Scheetz opened the third quarter with three runs for 18 yards before Bell completed the final pass of his prep career - a 28-yard touchdown to Watkins. Scheetz ran in the 2-point try to end the game with 10:08 remaining in the third quarter.

Senior Joel Schreiber ran the ball 11 times for 32 yards to lead the Oiler offense. Hurley added six yards on three carries.

Bell finished with 232 yards and five touchdowns on 11-of-15 passing. Fenner caught three passes for 94 yards and a pair of scores, and Watkins added 55 yards and a pair of touchdowns on his three receptions. 

Hoxie, champion in 2017, has posted a 73-22 record over the past nine seasons. Central Plains completed perfect seasons in 2014 and 2018 and ends the 2024 campaign at 10-3.

State Championship Scores

WACO, Texas (AP) — Sawyer Robertson threw for 310 yards and four touchdowns as Baylor won its sixth straight game, beating Kansas 45-17 on Saturday.

The Bears (8-4, 6-3 Big 12) scored touchdowns on three consecutive possessions in the first half to take a 21-7 lead, then found the end zone on all three of their drives in the third quarter.

Bryson Washington ran for 192 yards on 27 carries that included a 10-yard TD run and punching in from the 1 in the second half for Baylor, which after starting 0-3 Big 12 play went into the final day of the regular season still in contention for a spot in the league championship game until Arizona State beat Arizona later Saturday.

“I’m proud of that team in the locker room there, just the grit they showed,” Baylor coach Dave Aranda said. “To go through the season we’ve had and not let the outside on the inside, all those things are just really hard.”

Kansas (5-7, 4-5) entered on a three-game winning streak — all against ranked teams — to be in position for bowl eligibility with a win. But the Jayhawks had no answers for Baylor’s offense.

“It’s extremely disappointing because this team has overcome so much,” Kansas coach Lance Leipold said. “It’s been a roller-coaster year in many ways, and we didn’t fulfill expectations. We battled back. The locker room stayed together. To play a team like this that is playing really well and playing physical, and to do it on the road, is a challenge, and one that we didn’t answer.”

Devin Neal ran for 133 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries for Kansas. Jalon Daniels was 12-of-23 passing for 280 yards passing, and had two passes intercepted by Baylor safety Devyn Bobby.

Robertson was 23-for-31 passing, with TDs of 36- and 39-yards to Monaray Baldwin in the first quarter before a 14-yard score to Josh Cameron in the second. Baldwin caught seven passes for 119 yards, and Cameron added eight receptions for 102.

“To finish the game and the season the way we did, it’s super special," Robertson said.

“I feel like what is being built here can be sustained because of the quality of people we have,” Aranda said.

Kansas: The Jayhawks rarely had issues moving the ball in the first half. Despite trailing 21-10 at intermission, the Jayhawks had outgained Baylor 301-283. Their problems came with holding onto the ball and scoring when they had the chance. Tabor Allen missed a 38-yard field goal to end the Jayhawks’ first possession, and they had promising drives end on a Daniels interception and Tevita Noa fumble after a 39-yard reception.

Baylor: The Bears made a remarkable turnaround in the second half of the season. They began the year with coach Dave Aranda’s future considered tenuous at best, and a 2-4 start only made calls for him to be replaced louder. But Aranda and Baylor haven’t lost since Oct. 5 against Iowa State.

Baylor’s first two TDs came off the same route from Baldwin, and the second was nearly a replay of the first. Baldwin lined up in the slot to the right side in a one-on-one matchup with Kansas safety Marvin Grant and ran right by him and down the sideline.

Robertson throws 4 TDs in 45-17 Baylor win to end Kansas season

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Rocco Becht threw for two touchdowns and ran for another and No. 17 Iowa State's defense came up with big stops in the second half to help the Cyclones beat Kansas State 29-21 on a cold Saturday night for the first 10-win season in program history.

About three hours after the game ended, they had their ticket to the Big 12 championship game punched when BYU's win over Houston provided the help they needed to advance to a meeting with Arizona State next Saturday night at AT&amp;T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The Cyclones (10-2, 7-2 Big 12, No. 18 CFP) will make their second appearance in the conference championship game. They lost to Oklahoma in 2020.

“It will have been earned. Our kids have really never wavered," said Iowa State coach Matt Campbell, whose team bounced back from two straight losses after a 7-0 start and won their third straight. “It'll be a great opportunity for our program and obviously for our fanbase to be able to be a part of that with us.”

Becht’s first touchdown pass, a 15-yarder to Jayden Higgins, came after Myles Purchase recovered Avery Johnson’s errant pitch on the game’s first play from scrimmage. Becht’s 9-yard TD pass to Jaylin Noel came after Joey Petersen picked up Keagan Johnson’s fumble. Noel went over 1,000 yards receiving for the season with the catch.

Becht’s 5-yard run put the Cyclones up 24-14 at half.

“The ability for our kids to make critical plays in critical moments was certainly the difference in the game,” Campbell said. “We knew with the weather and the field, it was going to be a hard-fought football game. We were going to have to make those plays. Probably fitting for this team to win that way and finish the regular season. Really excited for them and what they’ve accomplished, and certainly for what the future holds for them as well.”

A safety and Kyle Konrardy’s 20-yard field goal gave Iowa State an eight-point lead in the middle of the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats (8-4, 5-4, No. 24 CFP) turned over the ball on downs at the Cyclones’ 35 when a pass went off Garrett Oakley’s hands on a fourth-and-2 with 4:59 left. They got the ball back for a final possession with no timeouts and 1:11 left when Kyle Konrardy missed what would have been a game-clinching 37-yard field goal. K-State went nowhere, with Avery Johnson knocked out of the game on third down and Ta’Quan Roberson throwing incomplete on fourth-and-15.

Becht took a knee, and the fans poured out of the stands to celebrate with the Cyclones on the field.

“Can’t play a team like that and make the mistakes we made,” K-State coach Chris Klieman said. "We made some mistakes in that first half that led to points, and you can’t do that against good football teams. That’s obvious.

“Congratulations to Matt and his team. They’ll represent the Big 12 well. They don’t make mistakes, and we made them today, and that got us down at halftime.”

Avery Johnson threw touchdown passes of 28 and 65 yards to Jayce Brown in the first half, and his 7-yarder to Oakley pulled K-State within 24-21 late in the third quarter. He threw for 220 yards and ran for 64 on 13 carries, and Brown caught three balls for 106 yards.

The Cyclones made a huge stop earlier in the third after DJ Giddens’s 36-yard run set up K-State inside the 5-yard line. They kept the Wildcats out of the end zone, and then Darien Porter blew through the right side of the line to block Chris Tennant’s 21-yard field-goal try.

The defense recorded a safety when Jacob Ellis chased Avery Johnson into his own end zone. Johnson desperately unloaded the ball and was called for intentional grounding.

Kansas State: The Wildcats failed to play spoiler after finding out their hopes of making the Big 12 championship game were squashed earlier in the day. Two turnovers, having a field goal blocked, surrendering a safety and failing to convert two fourth-and-2s hurt.

Iowa State: The Cyclones' seven conference wins are the second-most in program history — they had eight in 2020 — and their 17 wins since 2023 mark their best two-year stretch. They also finished in the top four of the Big 12 for the seventh time in eight seasons.

Iowa State could move up a bit with No. 12 Clemson losing this week.

Baseball star&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/dodgers-ohtani-interpreter-gambling-investigation-ce1d0c55526715afdb1b345590ece4f0">Shohei Ohtani</a>&nbsp;wants his former interpreter to hand over hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of baseball cards he says were fraudulently bought using his money.

The Los Angeles Dodgers star is also requesting Ippei Mizuhara, who previously pleaded guilty to bank and tax fraud for stealing nearly $17 million from the unsuspecting athlete, return signed collectible baseball cards depicting Ohtani that were in Mizuhara's “unauthorized and wrongful possession,” according to court documents filed Tuesday.

The legal filing alleges Mizuhara accessed Ohtani’s bank account beginning around November 2021, changing his security protocols so that he could impersonate him to authorize wire transfers. By 2024, Mizuhara had used that money to buy about $325,000 worth of baseball cards at online resellers eBay and Whatnot, according to the court documents.

Mizuhara’s attorney, Michael G. Freedman, declined to comment on the filing.

Mizuhara&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/shohei-ohtani-interpreter-ippei-mizuhara-sports-betting-0b0445af4bcac6886b25d049b922cba6">pleaded guilty in June</a>&nbsp;to spending millions from Ohtani’s Arizona bank account to cover his growing gambling bets and debts with an illegal bookmaker, as well as his own medical bills and the $325,000 worth of baseball cards.

Mizuhara is due to be sentenced in January after pleading guilty to one count of bank fraud and one count of subscribing to a false tax return, crimes that carry a potential sentence of more than 30 years in federal prison. He also could be on the hook for restitution to Ohtani that could total nearly $17 million, as well as more than $1 million to the IRS. And as a legal permanent resident who has a green card, he might be deported to Japan.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs have made a habit of winning games in the most improbable of ways.

The way they beat the Raiders on Friday still had Patrick Mahomes and Co. shaking their heads in disbelief.

The two-time MVP watched from the sideline as Las Vegas drove within range of a winning field goal with 15 seconds left,&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/NFL/status/1862636803137614059">only to botch the snap</a>&nbsp;on its final offensive play, allowing the Chiefs to escape with a 19-17 victory that also secured their 10th consecutive playoff berth — the second-longest streak in NFL history.

“Obviously a big stop in a big moment that got us the win,” Mahomes said.

The Raiders (2-10) had taken over at their own 8-yard line with just under two minutes to go, and quarterback Aidan O'Connell quickly moved them across midfield, eventually spiking the ball at the Kansas City 32 to stop the clock.

Rather than try for the winning field goal — Daniel Carlson had missed three from 50-plus — the Raiders lined up to run a play, hoping to gain a few yards with a throw to the sideline before time expired. But amid the roar of Arrowhead Stadium, rookie center Jackson Powers-Johnson snapped the ball when O'Connell wasn't expecting it, and it bounced off the QB's shoulder. Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton pounced on it, and the recovery stood when a flag on the play turned out to be an illegal shift by the Raiders.

“I actually didn't watch,” Raiders coach Antonio Pierce said of the fateful play. “That last play there was a lot going on, from the officiating to the flags to the ball being snapped.”

Mahomes finished with 306 yards passing and a touchdown, and fill-in kicker Matt Wright made four field goals for the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs (11-1), who won their NFL record-extending 14th consecutive one-possession game.

Like many of them, including last week's last-second win over Carolina, the Chiefs seemed to be in no mood to celebrate.

“I mean, we just hold ourselves to such a high standard. We don’t feel like we’re playing our best football,” Mahomes said. “We have to find a way to build up to play great (as) a full, entire team. It’s awesome that we’re finding ways to get wins. That’s what you’re going for. But our goal is to get to the Super Bowl.”

The Raiders had a chance to take the lead earlier in the fourth quarter, too, when O'Connell drove them across midfield. But the Chiefs forced three incompletions — George Karlaftis and Justin Reid batted down two — to bring up fourth down.

Carlson headed onto the field, but his 58-yard try with 2:21 remaining never got near the uprights.

O’Connell finished with 340 yards passing and two touchdowns for the Raiders, who have lost eight of nine to their bitter AFC West rivals. Brock Bowers had 10 catches for 140 yards and one of the scores.

“These guys battled until the very end, until the clock hit zero,” Pierce said. “They believed we were going to win and fought their (butts) off to the very end. All phases contributed to help us get in that position, but Aiden did hell of a job. He stayed in the pocket, made big-time throws for us, pushed the ball down the field. The numbers say what they’re going to say. I’m proud of my team, our team. I'm proud of the fight. We came up short yet again against the world champs. Twice now.”

The hapless Raiders were able to hang around thanks to the same problems that have plagued the Chiefs much of the season: Their offensive tackles were unable to give Mahomes time to throw, their secondary kept breaking down and they committed too many penalties — three on one offensive possession alone.

In fact, Mahomes was under extreme duress when he found Justin Watson from 6 yards out late in the first half. The pass not only gave the Chiefs a 10-3 lead but sent the two-time MVP past Len Dawson with his franchise-record 328th TD throw.

O'Connell, thrust back onto the field when Gardner Minshew broke his collarbone last weekend, got off to a slow start after missing a month with a broken thumb. But as the Chiefs continued to kick field goals, O'Connell found his rhythm, eventually slinging a pair of touchdown passes to give Las Vegas the lead.

The first was to Bowers, already one of the most productive rookies in NFL history, with 1:40 left in the third quarter. Then, after the Chiefs went three-and-out,&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/NFL/status/1862625636113637711">O'Connell hit Tre Tucker with 58-yard strike</a>&nbsp;on the first play of the fourth quarter.

The Chiefs answered with Wright's fourth field goal to take a 19-17 lead with about 10 minutes to go.

“The win was a positive here. These things are hard to get, especially against this crew,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “They do a nice job against us it seems every time we play them. It comes right down to the end.”

The Buffaloes now have to win and get help to make the title game. No. 14 Arizona State (9-2, 6-2) at Arizona (4-7, 2-6), Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET (Fox)

Big 12 newcomer Arizona State has a four-game winning streak, including&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/byu-arizona-state-score-a3b33ecd4ca98b9c461f8f1c2d7b2251">its win over BYU</a>&nbsp;last week that kept the Cougars from claiming a title game berth. That was the only head-to-head matchup this season between the top four teams. Arizona, also in its first Big 12 season, has lost six of its last seven games, but beat Arizona State 59-23 last year.

Kansas State (8-3, 5-3) at No. 17 Iowa State (9-2, 6-2), Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET (Fox)

After getting into November undefeated for the first time since 1938, and then losing consecutive games,&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/iowa-state-utah-football-score-top-25-4bf3ce2087386fedbbeb2f4a390cfbde">Iowa State has rebounded</a>&nbsp;by winning its last two. Big 12 goes into final weekend with four-way tie for 1st 

Four members of the Barton Community College women's soccer team earned All-KJCCC/Region 6 post-season recognition following the conclusion of the 2024 campaign.

All four of Barton's selections landed on the second team, led by returning award recipients&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/wsoc/2024-25/bios/jolly_fiona_g347">Fiona Jolly</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/wsoc/2024-25/bios/tanaka_mio_fiw7">Mio Tanaka</a>&nbsp;in being joined by fellow sophomores&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/wsoc/2024-25/bios/silva_leticia_f680">Leticia Quadros</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/wsoc/2024-25/bios/baldi_beatriz_vc7u">Beatriz Baldi</a>.

The selections helped Barton to an overall 9-6-4 record under first year Head Coach Rafael Simmons, placing fifth in the KJCCC at 7-5-4.

<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/wsoc/2024-25/bios/jolly_fiona_g347">Fiona Jolly</a>&nbsp;– 2nd Team An honorable mention selection last year, the returning sophomore from Trecon, Marne, France, led the Cougars in multiple facets as a team captain, an offensive threat, and was a hybrid type of player helping the defensive effort as well.

Offensively, Jolly finished one goal shy of tying for the team lead, finishing with a third best 8 goals and 20 total points in the nineteen game slate including a hat-trick in the Cougars' second game of the year and producing her third career multi-goal performance in late September versus Dodge City.

<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/wsoc/2024-25/bios/tanaka_mio_fiw7">Mio Tanaka</a>&nbsp;– 2nd Team Joining Jolly last year as an honorable mention selection, Tanaka moved up to the 2nd Team goalkeeper anchoring an inexperience collegiate defensive line.

The sophomore from Himeji-Shi, Japan, logged the most minutes across her nineteen games in the starting lineup helping the squad to four shutouts while only allowing more than two goals just twice, both coming on the road at nationally ranked teams.

Earning the Week 7 KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week award, Tanaka posted a career-high 13 saves keeping Barton in the match of the eventual 2-1 loss to sixth-ranked Butler. Tanaka followed three days later with another pair of saves in a 2-0 shutout at Coffeyville.

<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/wsoc/2024-25/bios/silva_leticia_f680">Leticia Quadros</a>&nbsp;– 2nd Team Listed as a defender, Quadros was another hybrid type of player for the Cougars in spending most of the time on the defensive end but added value on the offensive end as an integral part of Barton's set pieces.

In addition to aiding Tanaka to orchestrate the defensive line, the sophomore out of Brasilia, Brazil, ranked fourth in team scoring with 15 points on 5 goals and distributing a second best 5 assists. A bulk of the points came during the 25th game of Quadros' career producing a memorable September day, scoring not only her first collegiate goal, the game winning goal, but finishing with a seven-point afternoon with a hat trick of net rattlers plus an assist.

The sophomore from Blumenau, SC, Brazil, made a scoring impact in seven of the contests including a five-point effort of two goals and an assist in an early season win over Highland before scoring both in the Cougars' 2-0 late season victory at Coffeyville.
