Aaron Rodgers is still contemplating whether he wants to play football next season. And if he does return, he prefers it to be with the New York Jets.

The star quarterback, who turns 41 next Monday, denied a recent report that he wants to keep playing next year — but not with the Jets.

“I came here to win here, so I’m not jumping off ship,” Rodgers said Tuesday during his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.” “I don’t even know if I want to play yet, but New York would be my first option.”

The Athletic reported last week that Rodgers had already decided to play next season, but would want to play for another team. He and the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/jets-rodgers-bye-week-11fbf5505c5ef8f0905b3acaf95cff47">Jets have struggled to a 3-8 start</a>&nbsp;and owner Woody Johnson fired coach Robert Saleh last month and replaced him with defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich. He&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/jets-fire-general-manager-joe-douglas-4235b786e49176371923205f5a019f6c">dismissed general manager Joe Douglas</a>&nbsp;last Tuesday.

Rodgers recently&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/jets-aaron-rodgers-c4250de961b99b227bb01f7b5e41e396">told reporters “I think so, yeah,”</a>&nbsp;when he was asked if he plans to play next season. But that was before the latest front office upheaval.

“As far as my future goes, I haven’t told anybody in my life that I want to play in 2025 and not on the Jets,” Rodgers said. “That’s 100% false. I actually said the opposite. I said I’m going to wait and see what happens at the end of the season, if they want me back and what happens to ‘Brick’ and what happens with the offensive staff and obviously the GM at the time. They just fired Joe.

“There are a lot of things out of my control when it comes to that. But I’ve really enjoyed my time in New York. Obviously, we haven’t had the success we all wanted to have.”

Rodgers has dealt with various injuries to his left leg, including a sore knee, sprained ankle and balky hamstring. The four-time NFL MVP said that will also be a major factor in his decision as to whether he continues playing.

“When you’re 40 going on 41, you’re obviously at the end of your career,” Rodgers said. “Obviously, if it’s New York, they have to want me to be here. And then the new GM, new staff, all have to want me to be with the Jets. And then body-wise, I’ve got to see how I’m feeling and if I want to sign up to go back to the grind and all that.”

Rodgers said he “feels good” after the Jets’ bye week, part of which he spent in Berkeley, California, as part of the Cal Bears’ 20-year reunion of the 2004 team under former coach Jeff Tedford before its game last Saturday against Stanford.

Ulbrich confirmed Monday that&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/jets-rodgers-ulbrich-8203d637cfd2e8d840dddb8b7125d255">Rodgers will “absolutely” be the starter Sunday</a>&nbsp;at home against Seattle.

NFL Network reported last Sunday that Rodgers, who missed all but four snaps last season with a&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/nfl-injuries-explained-9a178a96c92e173175923b8f43fea058">torn left Achilles tendon</a>, has declined having medical scans on his injured leg so he can continue to play. The Athletic also reported the Jets could potentially release Rodgers or place him on injured reserve in the next few weeks.

“Well, I feel great right now,” Rodgers said. “I had the week off. I felt really good last week that last game we played against the Colts. I felt as good as I’ve felt in a long time. I will not willingly go on IR without an injury.

“When it comes to scans, first of all, I’ve played 20 years and I know my body better than anybody.”

Rodgers added he has “a great relationship” with the Jets’ athletic trainers and doctors, and they’ve all worked through his ailments.

“There was no mandate ever that you’ve got to get this scan, and then I was like, I ain’t getting this (expletive) scan,” Rodgers said.

The Athletic also reported last week that Johnson broached the idea during a meeting with the coaching staff of having the banged-up Rodgers sit after the Jets’ loss to Denver in Week 4. That and subsequent reports suggested a somewhat strained relationship between the owner and quarterback.

“I’ve got a lot of love and appreciation and gratitude for all the Johnsons,” said Rodgers, who added he recently had dinner with Woody’s brother Christopher.

Rodgers’ remaining year on his contract contains non-guaranteed money and he’d count $23.5 million against the salary cap next season. But if the Jets cut Rodgers before June 1 next year, they’d incur a $49 million dead money charge; it would be $14 million next year if a separation happens after June 1 and $35 million in 2026.

That will also factor into the decision by Johnson and the Jets — and Rodgers — over the next several weeks.

“I’ve made some great friendships on the team,” Rodgers said. “I’ve enjoyed living in (New) Jersey. I’ve enjoyed time in the city. I’ve enjoyed getting to know the fans.”

Seven members of the Barton Community College men's soccer team earned All-KJCCC/Region 6 post-season recognition following the conclusion of the 2024 season.

Barton placed four total players on the first team, repeat earners on the frontline&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/msoc/2024-25/bios/kanku_loic_7v7s">Loic Kanku</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/msoc/2024-25/bios/voinier_maxence_ehjk">Maxence Voinier</a>&nbsp;being joined by freshman defenseman&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/msoc/2024-25/bios/kinjo_sho_o6yv">Sho Kinjo</a>&nbsp;and sophomore transfer midfielder&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/msoc/2024-25/bios/gomes_justin_6h10">Justin Gomes</a>. Defender&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/msoc/2024-25/bios/dos_santos_lucas_jzie">Lucas Dos Santos</a>&nbsp;also was selected for the second time, this season as a second team selection as was fellow sophomore midfielder&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/msoc/2024-25/bios/pacheco_hugo_9r7l">Hugo Pacheco</a>&nbsp;while freshman defender&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/msoc/2024-25/bios/onofre_arthur_bfab">Arthur Onofre</a>&nbsp;landed on the honorable mention list.

The selections helped lead Barton to a second place finish in the rugged KJCCC at 7-4-1, finishing the season in the Region 6/Plains District Championship falling to 5th ranked and the eventual national runner-up Tigers of Cowley College. Completing the year with an overall record of 11-7-3, five results coming to ranked opponents including losses to eventual national champion Iowa Western, final four finisher Indian Hills, and a pair of losses and a tie against the Tigers.

Landing on the first team as well last year, the sophomore native of Brussels, Belgium, contributed scoring in half of his 22 games played. Posting a pair of three-point outings, one of those coming against Indian Hills, Kanku also registered net shakers against Iowa Western and Cowley, the last giving Barton the lead in the eventual season ending 2-1 loss to the Tigers.

The native of Caumont-sur-Durance, France, continued where he left off last year as a focus of opposing defenses, always a scoring threat with 36 of his 69 shots coming on target and delivered a team high three winning goals.

Earning the KJCCC Player of the Week in each of the first three weeks of the season, Voiner hit the scoring column in six consecutive games to begin the slate, a goal in the first five with his fourth assist in as many games extending the streak.

Offensively Kinjo also contributed by scoring two goals, most notable his volley in late first half action hosting then No. 7 Cowley sparking the Cougars to a come-from-behind 2-all result.

Gomes took over the primary midfield position utilizing all three phases of strength, speed, and knowledge to disrupt opponent attacks while orchestrating the Cougars' second ranked offense in the KJCCC. Originally from Paris, France, the dynamic Gomes was the unsung workhorse on the pitch but did have a game winning assist to his credit setting up the go-ahead goal in the team's first meeting with Jefferson College.

<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/msoc/2024-25/bios/dos_santos_lucas_jzie">Lucas Dos Santos</a>&nbsp;– 2nd Team A captain and leader on the team, Dos Santos followed his honorable mention selection from his freshman campaign with a second team distinction.

The sophomore from Juiz de Fora, MG, Brazil, was not only a staple in the defensive lineup but also a key contributor to set pieces resulting in a team fifth most 11 points coming on 3 goals and 5 assists.

As he helped bail Barton out last season with a big late goal in the National Tournament, Dos Santos again delivered in big spots this season by scoring a 73rd minute goal helping the Cougars survive a first round upset before four days later setting up what would be the game winning road district semifinal win at Jefferson College.

<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/msoc/2024-25/bios/pacheco_hugo_9r7l">Hugo Pacheco</a>&nbsp;– 2nd Team Perhaps the most improved returning player in the Cougar lineup, Pacheco earned second team honors from his midfield position.

Often diverting opponent attacks, Pacheco also distributed a team second best six assists while scoring two goals himself during his ten point season.

Delivering his first collegiate assist in an early season victory over Trinidad State, Pacheco's first collegiate goal came on a spectacular full horizontal diving header putting away Voinier's cross in what would be the eventual game winner against Coffeyville.

Pacheco would later deliver additional key tallies in a three game stretch, setting up the game tying goal hosting No. 7 Cowley followed by the game winner strike at Garden City, and capped by the game winning assist at Seward County to conclude the regular season to garner Week 10 KJCCC Player of the Week honors.

For his defensive prowess, Onofre was also strategic from the offensive standpoint producing 2 goals and 3 assists including a pair of assists coming in a 3-0 early season win over Jefferson, delivered a back-breaking goal in a 2-0 win at Coffeyville, a needed cushion goal in victory over Dodge City, and helped set up Kinjo's momentum swing goal in the 2-2 tie with No. 7 Cowley.

MIAMI (AP) — Traffic citations issued to Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill after&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/dolphins-tyreek-hill-detained-a842542cfdf33179bdb5dac060fa2d4d">a September altercation with police</a>&nbsp;have been dismissed after the charging officers didn’t attend a court hearing.

Hill’s tickets for careless driving and failing to wear a seat belt were dismissed after the Miami-Dade Police officers failed to show up for a Monday hearing. The tickets were issued after Hill was stopped outside Hard Rock Stadium for allegedly speeding before the Dolphins’ season opener on Sept. 8. The stop escalated and an officer pulled Hill from the car, forced him to the ground and handcuffed him.

Hill said in a Tuesday post on the&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/cheetah/status/1861418396744626390" target="_blank">social platform X</a>, “Where all the internet cops now”.

The Miami-Dade Police Department said it would have a statement later Tuesday.

Police body camera video from the September stop showed Hill appeared to speed past two motorcycle officers who were monitoring traffic on a road outside the stadium. They pulled over his McLaren sports car and one tapped on his window. Hill, 30, handed the officer his driver’s license, but told the officer repeatedly, “Don’t knock on my window like that.” He then put his window back up.

Their verbal exchange escalated and the officers soon pulled him from the car, forcing Hill face-first to the ground. The officers cursed at Hill but he did not resist their physical force or strike at them in the video. He did tell one officer, “Don’t tell me what to do.”

Hill was eventually stood up, but then an officer dragged him into a sitting position on the curb after he said a knee injury made that difficult.

After about 30 minutes, Hill was issued citations and allowed to enter the stadium.

Tuesday's Sports Headlines and Scores presented by Barton Community College

ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands (AP) — Coleman Hawkins totaled 19 points, 10 rebounds and five assists to lead Kansas State to an 80-64 victory over Longwood in the third-place game of the Paradise Jam on Monday night.

Hawkins, who transferred in after four seasons at Illinois, made 7 of 10 shots with five 3-pointers on the way to his first double-double with the Wildcats (5-2).

Brendan Hausen sank three 3-pointers and scored 16 for K-State. Dug McDaniel pitched in with 11 points, six assists and four steals. David N'Guessan had 10 points on 5-for-7 shooting. He is the only Wildcat to score in double figures in all seven games this season.

Kyrell Luc made 5 of 8 shots and 5 of 6 free throws, scoring 15 to lead the Lancers (6-2). Colby Garland had 13 points on 5-for-15 shooting. Johan Nziemi hit 4 of 5 shots and scored 11. Angelo Brizzi had nine points and a team-high-tying five rebounds off the bench.

Hausen and Hawkins both had 11 points by halftime and McDaniel scored nine to send the Wildcats into the locker room up 44-36.

Macaleab Rich scored all eight of his points after the break on 4-for-5 shooting as K-State played with the lead for 33:13.

This is K-State's third trip to the event. The Wildcats beat Eastern Kentucky and Penn before topping Missouri 82-67 in the 2018 championship game. They first appeared in 2002.

It was the first meeting between the Wildcats and last season's Big South Conference champions.

Kansas remained solidly entrenched at No. 1 in the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/hub/ap-top-25-college-basketball-poll">AP Top 25 men’s college basketball poll</a>&nbsp;Monday ahead of its showdown with No. 11 Duke in Las Vegas, while a pair of schools from the Magnolia State elbowed their way back into the rankings.

Ole Miss returned to the poll at No. 23 while Mississippi State made its season debut at No. 25.

The Jayhawks received&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/hub/college-basketball">51 of 62 first-place votes</a>&nbsp;from the national panel of media, putting them well ahead of two-time reigning national champion UConn, which was second with six first-place votes. Gonzaga was third with two first-place votes, Auburn was next with three, and Iowa State rounded out a top five that was unchanged from the previous week.

There’s a good chance for movement next week, though, with a host of high-profile matchups in&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/college-basketball-maui-atlantis-tournaments-19467ecc26930dfedfb67028420501b6">holiday tournaments,</a>&nbsp;and that matchup between the Jayhawks and Duke on Tuesday night in the Vegas Showdown.

Marquette was 10th after&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/purdue-marquette-basketball-score-ff5f5ce94a10928492f9ffc5f542fcf1">beating then-No. 6 Purdue</a>&nbsp;and Georgia last week to reach 6-0 for the first time since the 2011-12 season.

The Blue Devils and Tar Heels were followed by Purdue, which fell seven spots in the poll. Indiana and Wisconsin made it three straight Big Ten schools, while Cincinnati, Baylor, Florida, Arkansas and Texas A&amp;M rounded out the top 20.

The last five were Creighton, Ole Miss, Arizona, Mississippi State and BYU. The Wildcats narrowly extended their run in the AP Top 25 to 61 weeks — the fourth-longest active streak in the nation — after back-to-back losses to Wisconsin and Duke.

“We didn’t play great,” Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd said&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/duke-arizona-score-5b20684fe3e848e24f69b8944dc87177">after the loss to the Blue Devils</a>, “so now we need to take a step back and figure out why. Xavier returned to the poll for the first time since the final poll of the 2022-23 season ahead of its trip to the Fort Myers Tip-Off beginning Monday night. Ole Miss is back in the Top 25 after briefly dropping out, while Mississippi State is back after spending two weeks in the poll last November but just six weeks total over the past six years.

Those three entered at the expense of Illinois, St. John’s and Rutgers. The Illini lost to Alabama last week, while St. John’s fell to Baylor and Georgia. Rutgers lost 79-77 at Kennesaw State, which beat a ranked team for the first time in school history.

Marquette made the biggest climb this week, moving up five spots to No. 10. The Golden Eagles catch a breather this week with Stonehill and Western Carolina before back-to-back showdowns with No. 5 Iowa State and No. 15 Wisconsin.

Purdue, Creighton and Arizona all dropped seven spots but remained in the poll. The Boilermakers lost to Marquette while the Bluejays lost to in-state rival Nebraska. Kansas stays at No. 1 ahead of showdown vs. No. 11 Duke on Tuesday

The margin of error was razor-thin in Class 5A at 157 pounds last year. Great Bend's Jace Schartz, then a junior, defeated then No. 1 Kade Smith of Hutchinson in an ultimate tie-breaker en route to a regional title. Smith avenged that loss in another ultimate tie-breaker in the state semifinals a week later. Ahead of entering his senior season, Schartz recently signed a letter of intent to continue his wrestling career at Fort Hays State University next year.

"I picked Fort Hays for a few reasons," he said. "They have a really good construction management program, and that’s what I want to get to my major in. I’ve known the coaches for a quite a while and they're both very knowledgeable and very good people. When I went on my visit, the whole team is bought in on changing the culture and becoming national champs, which I love."

Last year was a big one for Schartz, who rebounded from the Smith loss to finish third at state. He reached another milestone the week before at regionals with his 100th career win. Coming off a football season where he helped the Panthers win nine straight games with a team-high 732 rushing yards, Schartz is ranked No. 2 in the preseason wrestling charts at 165 pounds behind Smith.

"Approaching this senior year, I’m way better physically than I was last year," he said. "So really, I’m just making sure I’m in shape to compete a whole six minutes and tuning up some small positioning adjustments and I should be ready to roll."

Great Bend finished fourth at state as a team in 2023, and finished sixth last year. Jace is the son of Darin and Lindsay Schartz.

Great Bend's Schartz to continue wrestling career at Fort Hays State

The Great Bend High School volleyball team posted a 57-42 record in the three years Valarie Luna played varsity there. She also won a state high jump title her senior year. Still, that amount of success could not have prepared Luna for what was to come in her two seasons playing volleyball at Cowley College in Arkansas City. With a 3-1 win over Johnson County in the NJCAA, Div. II National Volleyball Championships Saturday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the Tigers secured a second-straight national championship and became the first ever NCJAA team to post back-to-back unbeaten seasons.

"Heading off to college, I knew that Cowley volleyball was one of the top programs in the nation and I wanted to be apart of it," Luna said. "But never in a million years would I have guessed that I’d be bring back home not one but two national titles to my name. Never losing a match in my junior college career is a rare to say."

This group of Cowley sophomores finished their junior college careers at 81-0 and lost just 10 sets in two years. The 81 consecutive wins are an NJCAA record. In two years, Cowley doubled its volleyball national championship total to four, which is tied for second most in NJCAA DII history with Parkland (Ill.). 

"Heading off to college, I was stressed," said Luna. "Leaving my family and friends behind, meeting new people, adjusting to the new community and overall learning to live life on my own was a scary moment for me. Thankfully, everyone Arkansas City is welcoming. The support here is huge. It's like I never left home. Great Bend is exactly the same way; everyone loves to come out and support all the sports."

Luna saw her share of personal success as well. As a freshman last season, she was a second-team all-conference pick after finishing with 206 kills, 84 blocks, and a .344 hitting percentage. This season, she earned third-team all-conference honors with 169 kills, 62 blocks, and a .303 hitting percentage.

Luna plans to continue her playing career at a four-year college next season but has not yet committed to a school.

Oregon is No. 1 for the sixth straight week and Ohio State, Texas and Penn State held their places behind the Ducks, who are the last unbeaten team.

The Broncos got a one-spot bump despite&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/boise-state-wyoming-top-25-score-9542b45237e262babcf5b5cf5290086e">struggling to beat a two-win Wyoming team.</a>&nbsp;Tulane is No. 18, UNLV is No. 21 and Army is No. 25.

Oregon, which was idle, was the consensus No. 1 team for the fourth straight week. The Ducks will be unbeaten in the regular season for the first time since 2010 if they beat Washington at home Saturday.

Boise State’s ranking is its highest since it was No. 8 in the final poll of the 2011 season. Arizona State’s ranking is its highest since it was No. 12 in the final poll of the 2014 season.

Indiana-Ohio State was the final top-five matchup of the regular season. The five were the most in a regular season since 1996. There also were five in 1936 and 1943.

The fantastic season compiled by the Barton Community College volleyball team ended in a 4th place finish on the final day of the NJCAA Division I Tournament as Colby Community College took the 3rd place trophy in four sets (25-17, 22-25, 29-27, 25-18). Exceeding their 6th seed, Barton completes the year 33-4 with Colby finishing at 29-5 after making their run from the 13th seeded team in the tournament and getting the final revenge to even the fellow Region 6 teams' season meetings at two victories each. The 24th national tournament appearance ended in the program's best since its 2003 national title year and matched the 1998 team for the best other finish of the last eleven trips to the big stage.

Monday on Sports Day

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Ten yards into a scramble, Patrick Mahomes could have easily slid for a first down or simply ducked out of bounds and moved on to the next play.

Instead, the three-time Super Bowl MVP&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/NFL/status/1860793086483337330">cut back inside and raced another 23 yards</a>&nbsp;up the field, helping to set up Spencer Schrader's 31-yard field goal as time expired as the Chiefs held on to beat the Carolina Panthers 30-27 on Sunday.

“At that point, yards are more important than getting out of bounds,” Mahomes said. “With three timeouts, I just tried to just cut through and Justin Watson had a great block and was able to get down the field and get out of bounds.”

The game-winning drive was the 21st of Mahomes' career, and the Chiefs won a game decided in the final seconds for the fifth time this season. Eight of the Chiefs' wins have come by one-score margins.

“You always want to have some blowouts and be a little calmer in the fourth quarter, but I've always said it could be a good thing when you get to the playoffs later in the season knowing that you have been in those moments before, and knowing how to attack it play by play not making it too big of a moment,” Mahomes said.

Then he smiled and said: “But I would say this more than anybody, I would love to win a game not by the very last play.”

Mahomes completed 27 of 37 passes for 269 yards and&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/Chiefs/status/1860779368617824699">three touchdowns</a>&nbsp;in his first game at Bank of America Stadium and ran for 60 yards — including 33 on that last-minute play — as the Chiefs (10-1) scored on six of their eight possessions.

Noah Gray caught four passes for 66 yards and scored two touchdowns for the second straight week, and&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/NFL/status/1860779327538733210">DeAndre Hopkins also found the end zone</a>&nbsp;for the two-time defending Super Bowl champions. Kareem Hunt ran for 68 yards on 16 carries and caught three passes for 19 yards.

Bryce Young played well for Carolina (3-8), finishing 21 of 35 for 262 yards and a touchdown while leading the Panthers back from an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter to tie the game on Chuba Hubbard's 1-yard touchdown run and 2-point conversion with 1:46 remaining.

Panthers coach Dave Canales, who benched Young earlier this season for veteran Andy Dalton, said last year's No. 1 overall draft pick “absolutely” will remain the team's starting QB next week. That's a break from Canales' recent pattern of waiting a few days to name a starter.

“Bryce is certainly making the most of his opportunities,” Canales said. “And he is making a statement to all of us. Showing us he can make plays in critical areas. He did a great job extending today.”

Said Young: “For me, I just want to focus on what I can control. Regardless, I always have the same mindset and preparation, wanting to be better throughout the week. I am definitely grateful for confidence.”

The Panthers moved the ball well but struggled in the red zone, resulting in field goals of 30, 32, 29 and 33 yards for Eddy Pineiro, the most accurate kicker in NFL history.

The Chiefs wasted no time setting the tone as Samaje Perine returned the opening kickoff 56 yards and Mahomes found&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/Chiefs/status/1860746775801307357">Gray for a 35-yard touchdown strike</a>&nbsp;on the third play of scrimmage for a 7-0 lead. Gray went nine games without a TD catch before hauling in two last week against Buffalo. His 11-yard score late in the second quarter gave him&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/Chiefs/status/1860764959220601320">two more against the Panthers</a>.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid praised Mahomes' poise but said he was concerned about his team's nine penalties for 90 yards.
