MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Tylor Perry and reserve Arthur Kaluma each scored 20 points and Cam Carter recorded his first double-double and Kansas State pulled away in overtime to beat Oral Roberts 88-78 on Tuesday night.

Carter had 19 points and 10 rebounds and Darrin Ames and Will McNair Jr. each scored 11 points for the Wildcats (5-2) who won their second game in overtime this season. The Wildcats are 7-0 in extra session games under second-year coach Jerome Tang.

Issac McBride scored 25 points and Jailen Bedford 23 for Oral Roberts (2-4).

Bedford's 3-pointer with 3:10 left in overtime marked the Golden Eagles last lead — and final points — at 78-76. The Wildcats closed the game on a 12-0 run shooting 8 for 9 from the foul line, one of which came off a three-point play by Kaluma.

Purdue is back on top of the AP Top 25 this week, but the team it replaced will still be in the spotlight this week.

Kansas, the preseason No. 1, will return from the loaded Maui Invitational and attempt to pick up another marquee win when the fifth-ranked Jayhawks play defending national champion and fourth-ranked UConn on Friday night in Allen Fieldhouse.

Rarely do top programs play each other on college campuses these days, opting instead for easy matchups against the likes of Eastern Illinois, which the Jayhawks played Tuesday night. The big-time showdowns have been increasingly pushed onto neutral floors in lucrative made-for-TV tournaments and events, such as the Maui Invitational, where the Jayhawks lost to fourth-ranked Marquette in the semifinals before rebounding to beat No. 10 Tennessee in the third-place game.

“Whenever you play a tournament, exempt tournament, everybody wants to go into it thinking 3-0. In this field, I guarantee you all the coaches were thinking 2-1’s a good trip,” said Kansas coach Bill Self, whose team also was tested on an a neutral floor when it beat No. 12 Kentucky in Chicago. ”I don’t think there’s anybody's walking away saying 2-1 was not a success."

The revamped Huskies have been tested this season, too, picking up wins over Indiana and No. 16 Texas to win the Saatva Empire Classic in New York earlier this month. But the real tough stretch for coach Dan Hurley's team is just beginning.

UConn plays the Jayhawks on Friday night, then returns to Madison Square Garden on Dec. 5 to play No. 17 North Carolina in the Jimmy V Classic. After a breather against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, the Huskies play No. 11 Gonzaga on Dec. 15 in the Continental Tire Tipoff, then begin a brutal race in the Big East — the league had four teams in the Top 25 this week.

The marquee matchup in the showdown between the ACC and SEC was Tuesday night, when eighth-ranked Miami travels to No. 12 Kentucky, while No. 23 Alabama played Clemson.

The event continues on Wednesday, when No. 11 Tennessee visits No. 17 North Carolina, No. 14 Texas A&amp;M visits Virginia and seventh-ranked Duke heads to Arkansas, which dropped out of the Top 25 this week.

KU falls to No. 5 in latest AP Poll

Kansas State quarterback Will Howard and Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke were two of the biggest names who announced their intentions to enter college football's transfer portal Monday.

In a social media post, Howard thanked Kansas State coach Chris Klieman, his teammates and the Wildcats’ fanbase before concluding: “I’m looking forward to this next chapter in my life and in the possibilities that lie ahead.”

Van Dyke also made his announcement on social media. “I have created lifelong friendships and memories, which I will always cherish. I am deeply appreciative of the opportunities and experiences that have shaped me during my time here," he wrote.

Howard led the Wildcats to the Big 12 title last season and another bowl game this season. Kansas State running back Treshaun Ward also announced his plans to enter the portal Monday.

Most teams wrapped up regular seasons this past weekend, leading some to declare their intent to transfer. Howard, Ward and Van Dyke are among those who are graduate transfers, meaning they could enter the portal and become immediately eligible, while players who have yet to graduate must wait until Dec. 4 to make their announcements official.

Howard emerged as the Wildcats' starter last year after injuries to Adrian Martinez, and he led them to an upset of eventual national runner-up TCU in the Big 12 title game. Howard was the clearcut starter entering this season, though he was pushed at times by freshman Avery Johnson, and threw for 2,643 yards with 24 touchdown passes and eight interceptions.

Howard, who will have one year of eligibility left, had tears in his eyes as he walked off the field after his final game at Kansas State on Saturday. He accounted for two touchdowns in a 42-35 loss to Iowa State in a game played in heavy snow.

Howard's departure means that Johnson, one of the nation's best dual-threat quarterbacks coming out of high school, will likely start for the Wildcats (8-4, 6-3 Big 12) in their bowl game. Johnson threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns but may be even more dangerous on the ground — he took over for Howard against Texas Tech and ran for five TDs in a 38-21 victory.

Miami's situation is not as clear at quarterback for its bowl game. Van Dyke — who had 11 games of at least 300 yards in his career — lost his starting job earlier this month to freshman Emory Williams, who got hurt late in Miami's loss to Florida State. Van Dyke started the final two games of the regular season.

His departure means Miami has just one healthy scholarship quarterback on its roster, that being Jacurri Brown — who did not throw a pass this season.

The Hurricanes — who also saw running back Don Chaney Jr., defensive lineman Jahfari Harvey and linebacker Corey Flagg announce their decisions to enter the portal on Monday — will look to be busy in using the pool of transfers to make quick roster upgrades for 2024.

“It's the wild, wild West,” Miami coach Mario Cristobal said earlier Monday in his weekly appearance on WQAM-AM. “It really is. It's like completely out of control. And the NCAA, rightfully so, has taken a hard-line stance. If people are messing around and tampering, they're going to slam you. They really are. ... But you need to be ready to upgrade right away."

Van Dyke was the Atlantic Coast Conference’s rookie of the year in 2021 under then-offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee, now the coach at SMU. He leaves Miami second on the school’s all-time list in completion percentage (63.7%), fourth in touchdown passes (54), fourth in completions (581) and sixth in yards (7,469).

Ward, who arrived at Kansas State from Florida State, is transferring again after ceding playing time to D.J. Giddens throughout the season. He ran for 643 yards and five touchdowns while adding two touchdown receptions.

Another veteran QB hitting the portal Monday was Mississippi State's Will Rogers, who threw for 12,315 yards in four seasons with the Bulldogs; three of those seasons came while he was running the late coach Mike Leach's Air Raid offense.

K-State QB Will Howard among those entering transfer portal


KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs finally showed some
second-half life on Sunday in Las Vegas, where they rallied from an
early two-touchdown deficit for a 31-17 victory. The Chiefs had been
shut out after the break in their previous three games. The biggest
reason for the success was that they simply played some clean
football. They did not commit a turnover for the first time since
Week 5 and the second time this season, and they only committed four
penalties.


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Cairo Santos made a 30-yard field goal for
Chicago with 10 seconds left for his fourth of the game after a miss
on the opening drive, and the Bears had four interceptions of Joshua
Dobbs in a defense-dominated 12-10 victory over the Minnesota
Vikings. Justin Fields lost two fumbles in the fourth quarter. With
excellent protection on third-and-10 near midfield he hit D.J. Moore
for 36 yards to put the Bears at the 13 with 55 seconds left. They
drained the clock to set up the winning kick and stop a 12-game
losing streak against NFC North opponents.


CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Panthers fired coach Frank
Reich with the team off to an NFL-worst 1-10 record in his first year
in charge. The move came a day after the Panthers lost 17-10 to the
Tennessee Titans. Owner David Tepper hired Reich to fix one of the
league’s worst offenses over the past few seasons and develop Bryce
Young, the No. 1 overall draft pick. Instead, they are assured of a
sixth straight losing season since Tepper bought the team in 2018.
Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor will take over as interim head
coach. Tabor’s first move was to fire quarterbacks coach Josh
McCown and running backs coach Duce Staley, according to a person
familiar with the situation.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida coach Billy Napier began a
much-needed defensive makeover by firing two assistants. A person
familiar with the decision tells the AP on condition of anonymity
that Napier parted with cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond and defensive
line coach Sean Spencer, two days after a season-ending loss to rival
and then-No. 5 Florida State. The Gators (5-7) lost five consecutive
games to end the season and missed a bowl for just the third time
since 1990. Defense was the biggest issue down the stretch, with
Florida allowing 41.75 points a game in the first four of those
losses.


SEATTLE (AP) — Rome Odunze can see not all is right with the
offense for No. 3 Washington. It hasn’t looked quite right since
Odunze caught the winning touchdown to beat Oregon back in October.
The Ducks are the same team the Huskies will see in Friday’s Pac-12
championship game. There’s no debating that Washington hasn’t
carved up defenses with the ease it displayed leading up to the 36-33
win over Oregon on Oct. 14. The Huskies know the offense must get
better in short order.

Associated Press women's basketball poll, moving up to No. 6. South
Carolina remained the unanimous top choice in the AP Top 25. UCLA,
Stanford, Iowa and N.C. State round out the top five. The Wolfpack
beat then-No. 3 Colorado last week and have gone from unranked in the
preseason all the way to the top five. Colorado fell into a tie for
seventh with LSU. Virginia Tech is ninth and Texas is 10th. Princeton
and Marquette entered the rankings while Washington State and
Oklahoma dropped out.


The St. Louis Cardinals agreed with AL Cy Young runner-up Sonny Gray
on a $75 million, three-year contract to anchor their staff heading
into next season. Gray’s deal includes a $30 million team option
for 2027 with a $5 million buyout, which could make the agreement

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs finally showed some
second-half life on Sunday in Las Vegas, where they rallied from an
early two-touchdown deficit for a 31-17 victory. The Chiefs had been
shut out after the break in their previous three games. The biggest
reason for the success was that they simply played some clean
football. They did not commit a turnover for the first time since
Week 5 and the second time this season, and they only committed four
penalties.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Cairo Santos made a 30-yard field goal for
Chicago with 10 seconds left for his fourth of the game after a miss
on the opening drive, and the Bears had four interceptions of Joshua
Dobbs in a defense-dominated 12-10 victory over the Minnesota
Vikings. Justin Fields lost two fumbles in the fourth quarter. With
excellent protection on third-and-10 near midfield he hit D.J. Moore
for 36 yards to put the Bears at the 13 with 55 seconds left. They
drained the clock to set up the winning kick and stop a 12-game
losing streak against NFC North opponents.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Panthers fired coach Frank
Reich with the team off to an NFL-worst 1-10 record in his first year
in charge. The move came a day after the Panthers lost 17-10 to the
Tennessee Titans. Owner David Tepper hired Reich to fix one of the
league’s worst offenses over the past few seasons and develop Bryce
Young, the No. 1 overall draft pick. Instead, they are assured of a
sixth straight losing season since Tepper bought the team in 2018.
Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor will take over as interim head
coach. Tabor’s first move was to fire quarterbacks coach Josh
McCown and running backs coach Duce Staley, according to a person
familiar with the situation.
UNDATED (AP) — Kansas State quarterback Will Howard and Miami
quarterback Tyler Van Dyke were among a rush of players entering
college football’s transfer portal Monday. Howard led the Wildcats
to the Big 12 title last season and another bowl game this season.
Van Dyke is a past Atlantic Coast Conference rookie of the year. Most
teams wrapped up regular seasons this past weekend, leading some to
declare their intent to transfer. Howard and Van Dyke are among those
who are graduate transfers, meaning they could enter the portal and
become immediately eligible, while players who have yet to graduate
must wait until Dec. 4 to make it official.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida coach Billy Napier began a
much-needed defensive makeover by firing two assistants. A person
familiar with the decision tells the AP on condition of anonymity
that Napier parted with cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond and defensive
line coach Sean Spencer, two days after a season-ending loss to rival
and then-No. 5 Florida State. The Gators (5-7) lost five consecutive
games to end the season and missed a bowl for just the third time
since 1990. Defense was the biggest issue down the stretch, with
Florida allowing 41.75 points a game in the first four of those
losses.
SEATTLE (AP) — Rome Odunze can see not all is right with the
offense for No. 3 Washington. It hasn’t looked quite right since
Odunze caught the winning touchdown to beat Oregon back in October.
The Ducks are the same team the Huskies will see in Friday’s Pac-12
championship game. There’s no debating that Washington hasn’t
carved up defenses with the ease it displayed leading up to the 36-33
win over Oregon on Oct. 14. The Huskies know the offense must get
better in short order.

college basketball poll after its run to the Maui Invitational title.
The Boilermakers beat three teams ranked among the top 11. They
replace preseason No. 1 Kansas, which dropped to fifth after losing

and Uconn is fourth. Villanova, BYU and Colorado State jumped into
the top 20 while Colorado, Arkansas and USC were among those that

The St. Louis Cardinals agreed with AL Cy Young runner-up Sonny Gray
on a $75 million, three-year contract to anchor their staff heading

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Perhaps the Kansas City Chiefs finally solved their second-half woes against the Raiders on Sunday in Las Vegas.

Or maybe they just did what Andy Reid has been imploring them to do for the past month.

Despite falling behind by two touchdowns early, the Chiefs were able to rally for a 31-17 win largely because they committed just four penalties and were turnover-free for the first time since Week 5 and the second time all season. The result was an offense led by Patrick Mahomes that started to resemble their high-scoring teams of the past five years.

“We've shown that we can move the ball,” Mahomes said, “but penalties and drops, and me not getting to the right guy at the right time (were problems). ... Little things have kind of stalled our drives, but we got to it. Kind of went back to fundamentals this week, and we kept pressing and pushing, and we're going to try to keep going the rest of the season."

While the offense finally came online, the defense continued to do its thing. Steve Spagnuolo's bunch only allowed a field goal after those two early touchdowns, keeping intact its streak of allowing 24 points or fewer in every game.

“We knew our defense would do a good job of maintaining and keeping us around,” Mahomes said.

The Chiefs still have not put a complete game together since Week 3 against Chicago, but the fact that their offense ended a three-week streak of second-half shutouts was a step in the right direction.

And making it even more impressive is the fact that Kansas City turned things around on a short week — after an emotional Monday night loss to Philadelphia in their Super Bowl rematch — while on the road against a divisional rival with a holiday thrown into the mix.

That kind of focus is another hallmark of Chiefs teams the past few years.

“We went down 14 points. It's a tough thing to come back on that, but our guys battled back and I'm proud of it," Reid said. “We started off a little bit slow and the guys just started making plays and really worked through their fundamentals.”

The Chiefs defense has excelled at bringing pressure from the secondary, particularly with second-year pro Trent McDuffie, who had two sacks against the Eagles last week. On Sunday, his blitz and batted pass in the fourth quarter stalled the Raiders' drive in Kansas City territory, helping the Chiefs defense to preserve the victory.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who dropped a potential winning TD pass a week ago, continued to have almost no positive impact on the Kansas City offense.

Sure, he helped the running game with his blocking, but he had one catch for the loss of a yard against the Raiders, and he has only had more than two catches in a game once: three against the Chargers.

Rashee Rice has become the go-to wide receiver in the Kansas City passing game. Not only did he catch a game-high eight passes for 107 yards and a score, he did it in a variety of ways: The second-round pick showed an ability to track the deep ball, made a highlight-reel grab with a defender tightly guarding him, and turned a short pass into a long touchdown reception.

WR Mecole Hardman was inactive with a thumb injury after playing poorly in the four games since the Jets traded him back to Kansas City. Throw in the return of WR Richie James from a knee injury, and his success in the return game, and it is difficult to see where Hardman will make an impact going forward.

RB Jerick McKinnon was inactive with a groin injury. WR Skyy Moore hurt his knee, LT Donovan Smith tweaked his neck and RG Trey Smith hurt his foot, but Reid said none of those injuries was serious.

125 — Reid became the career regular-season wins leader in Kansas City on Sunday, breaking a tie with Hall of Fame coach Hank Stram. Reid is also the winningest coach in Philadelphia history, and the only one to hold that title with two franchises.

Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars took control of their division. Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs shrugged off a big deficit. Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens showed their balance.

Three of the AFC’s division leaders kept pace on the road Sunday, setting up a wide-open race for the No. 1 seed down the stretch.

The Ravens (9-3) beat the Chargers 20-10 to remain a half-game ahead of the Chiefs (8-3), Jaguars (8-3) and Miami Dolphins (8-3).

Jackson threw for 177 yards, the Ravens ran for 197 and a stingy defense shut down Justin Herbert and the Chargers, forcing four turnovers.

The Ravens host the Rams after their bye week and then play Jacksonville and Miami sandwiched around a difficult game against San Francisco (8-3) in Weeks 15-16-17. Those games will help determine who will earn the AFC’s top spot.

The Chiefs rebounded from a disappointing loss at home to Philadelphia on Monday night by rallying for a 31-17 win over the Raiders. It took them a quarter to get going in Las Vegas before Mahomes tossed two touchdown passes and Isiah Pacheco ran for two scores.

“When you have a short week and you’re playing a team like the Raiders, who always plays you tough, you have to bounce right back,” Mahomes said. “You wash it, you learn from it, and then you kind of just go back to the fundamentals and working. And so, we still have stuff to learn from this game.”

A major bright spot for the Chiefs was the performance of rookie wide receiver Rashee Rice, who had eight catches for 107 yards and one touchdown. A week after drops by Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Justin Watson cost them a win against the Eagles, it was important someone other than Travis Kelce stepped up to catch Mahomes’ passes.

“He’s a guy who wants it. I think that’s the biggest thing,” Mahomes said of Rice. “He has talent. He wants to be great. But it’s going to take us staying on top of it every single week, and he’s going to be a great receiver in this league.”

Kansas City has hosted five straight AFC championship games. None of the Chiefs’ final six opponents currently has a winning record so they have a clear path to the top spot. If they win out, they’ll earn a first-round bye.

Lawrence threw for 364 yards and one TD and ran for a score to help the Jaguars hold off Houston, 24-21. Jacksonville opened up a two-game lead over the Texans (6-5) and Indianapolis Colts (6-5) in the AFC South.

“You look at how well Houston has been playing, they were kind of nipping at our heels in the division, so this was a big game,” Lawrence said. “They win this game, we’re all square, and they beat us twice, so they’re first place in the division, and we don’t really control our own destiny anymore. ... We just keep winning, we don’t have anything to worry about."

The victory wasn’t secured until Matt Ammendola’s 58-yard field goal attempt hit the crossbar in the final minute. Josh Allen and Travon Walker combined to sack C.J. Stroud for a 9-yard loss a few plays before the missed kick.

“For our D-line to run all over the field sometimes it felt like to make plays, it’s just a credit to them and just the ‘no-quit mentality,’ and Josh had a heck of a game, particularly here at the end,” Jaguars coach Doug Pederson said.

Jacksonville’s hopes of earning the No. 1 seed could come down to how the team fares in back-to-back games against Cleveland (7-4) and Baltimore in Weeks 14-15.

The Dolphins had the day off after whipping the New York Jets in the NFL’s first Black Friday game.

They earned another victory Sunday when the Buffalo Bills collapsed in Philadelphia. Josh Allen and the Bills blew several leads, including one in overtime, before losing 37-34 to fall to 6-6.

The Bills, who entered the season with Super Bowl expectations, are 10th in the AFC and now trail Pittsburgh (7-4), Cleveland, Indianapolis, Houston and Denver (6-5) in the wild-card race.

Miami’s next three opponents are 12-22 combined. But the Dolphins finish with three tough games against Dallas (8-3), Baltimore and Buffalo.

In the NFC, the Eagles (10-1) are the clear leader following their fourth straight comeback win. They’ve been resilient and Jalen Hurts has played at an MVP level. Philadelphia faces the 49ers and Cowboys in its next two games but has margin for error.

AFC's race for the No. 1 seed is tight with 4 division leaders earning Week 12 wins

The Panther swim teams will have a new head coach this winter. Kari Carper takes over for Klara Gilbert, who head coached at Great Bend for one season. Carper is pleased to have six seniors on her squad.

Seniors Kasey Kennedy and Adam Hall return and are joined by Ryan Armendariz, Thomas Henrikson, Andrew McQuade, and Joshua Sharpe. Kennedy will look to return to the state meet in the 100 fly, and Hall is working on a state time in the 50 free. 

"As a team, we have decided we want to focus on getting the 200 free relay qualified," Carper said. "We  have some new guys this year that are going to be big contributors towards the middle to end of season."

Junior Matthew Williams, sophomore Quinton Heath, and freshman Kale Mermis all have competitive swimming experience. Williams is joined by fellow juniors AJ Thurman from Hoisington and Jordan Sander.

Carper has high expectations for the season with Kennedy a possible Western Athletic Conference favorite in the 100 fly and 200 IM. She expects Hall to compete well in the 50 and 100 free races, along with Sander in the 500 free.

"I am confident we will see exciting things from Matthew, Kale, Quinton, and Gabe Herrman come WAC," Carper said. "We also have several other guys that we are hoping can place in the top five in their events. We will have our work cut for us with last year's WAC champs: Garden City. I am not sure what they are bringing to the table this year."

The Panther swimmers hit the water Thursday in Salina for the first competition of the season, then travel to Maize on Saturday.

Kennedy, Hall part of six seniors on GBHS swim squad

ESTERO, Fla. (AP) — Just when it seemed like Kansas State might beat Iowa for the third time in a little over 12 months, Caitlin Clark found herself remembering one of coach Lisa Bluder's mantras.

“She always says, ‘Find a way,’” Clark said.

That's what she and the Hawkeyes did — to win a title, and finally beat the Wildcats.

Clark scored 32 points, and No. 5 Iowa survived wasting a pair of double-digit leads before rallying to finally beat No. 16 Kansas State 77-70 in the championship game of the Gulf Coast Showcase on Sunday night.

“We just responded and stayed together,” Clark said.

Clark made seven 3-pointers, the last coming with 47 seconds left, to help ensure the Hawkeyes (7-1) would win and avenge a Nov. 16 loss to Kansas State. The Wildcats also beat Iowa last season.

Molly Davis added 13, while Kate Martin had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Iowa.

“We've come back on them twice before,” Kansas State coach Jeff Mittie said. “We've won the last four minutes of the game the two previous games. Didn’t do it today.”

Serena Sundell and Ayoka Lee each scored 18 for Kansas State (6-1), and Zyanna Walker finished with 11. The Wildcats got themselves into a 13-point hole early, then trailed by 11 in the second half.

Both times, they rallied. Sundell threw up a beat-the-clock prayer that bounced in to end the third quarter, and Kansas State — fueled by holding Iowa to a 1-for-11 stretch from the floor — went on a 14-2 run and took the lead back on Gisela Sanchez's three-point play with 2:44 remaining.

Martin then hit a layup to put Iowa back on top, and Clark scored Iowa's next seven points.

Things got a bit heated in the second half, when Bluder was arguing for what she thought were missed three-second calls. She was exchanging words with officials, and said Mittie then directed some her way.

“I’ve never had a coach yell at me from the sideline ever in my entire career," Bluder said. “I'm talking to the official, I'm not talking to him.”

Clark moved another spot — her fifth in three days — up the Division I all-time scoring list. She passed Appalachian State's Valorie Whiteside (2,944) for 16th and has moved up 21 spots since the start of the season. Now at 2,954, she's within 573 points of Kelsey Plum's record of 3,527.

Iowa: Clark's sixth field goal gave her 964 in her career, one more than Syracuse's Dyaisha Fair for the lead among all active women's college players. She finished with 12, for 970 total. Clark is now the active leader — among all divisions — in points, scoring average, field goals made, 3-pointers made and attempted, free throws made and attempted, assists, assist average and triple-doubles.

Kansas State: The Wildcats held Iowa to a 2-for-21 effort from 3-point range in their first meeting this month. The Hawkeyes were 12 for 32 from 3 on Sunday. Another big difference was free throws — Iowa was 11 for 16, Kansas State just 4 for 11.

Iowa will likely remain in the top 5 of the AP Top 25 for the sixth consecutive week, which would be the third-longest streak in school history.

Kansas State should remain ranked for the second straight week. The Wildcats hadn't made back-to-back appearances since Jan. 24 and 31, 2022 — and haven't been in three straight polls since the final three of the 2016-17 season.

to rally past the Las Vegas Raiders 31-17. Kansas City fell behind
14-0 in the second quarter but tied it by halftime and pulled away
after that. Isiah Pacheco rushed for two touchdowns, and Rashee Rice
caught eight passes for 107 yards and a TD. Josh Jacobs rushed for
110 yards and a touchdown for the Raiders, ending a 12-game streak in
which the Chiefs did not allow a 100-yard rusher.

INGLEWOOD, Calif.
(AP) — Rookie Zay Flowers had a touchdown catch and ran for a
game-sealing score late in the fourth quarter, Baltimore’s defense
forced four turnovers, and the AFC-best Ravens beat the Los Angeles
Chargers 20-10. Lamar Jackson threw for 177 yards and ran for 39 on
11 carries, becoming the fourth quarterback in NFL history to exceed
5,000 rushing yards. Baltimore is 9-3 and heads into its bye week
one-half game ahead of Kansas City, Jacksonville and Miami for the
best record in the conference. Justin Herbert was 29 of 44 for 217
yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Chargers, who have
lost three straight and are last in the AFC West.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) —
Jalen Hurts scored the winning touchdown on a quarterback draw with
2:37 left in overtime, and the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Buffalo
Bills 37-34. Hurts threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more,
and he outdueled Buffalo’s Josh Allen while rallying the Eagles
from a 17-7 halftime deficit for the second straight game.
Philadelphia’s Jake Elliott tied the game with a 59-yard field goal
with 20 seconds remaining. After the Bills went ahead with a field
goal on the first possession of OT, Hurts ran virtually untouched for
the 12-yard score that made the Eagles the only 10-1 team in the NFL.

DENVER (AP) —
Quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson was one of several key players
for the Browns who were injured in their loss at the Denver Broncos.
Star defensive end Myles Garrett said he felt something pop in his
left shoulder and departed Empower Field with his arm in a sling.
Cleveland's best wide receiver, Amari Cooper, suffered a rib injury,
and defensive tackle Jordan Elliott injured an ankle. The Browns have
already weathered more than their share of major injuries this year.
Running back Nick Chubb was lost for the season to a knee injury in
Week 2 and quarterback Deshaun Watson is out for the year with a
broken shoulder.

INGLEWOOD, Calif.
(AP) — Sunday’s airing of the late afternoon games on the NFL
RedZone Channel literally went code red. The broadcast was
interrupted when a fire alarm went off in the NFL Network building,
which is located across the street from SoFi Stadium in the Hollywood
Park complex. Host Scott Hanson informed viewers that his production
crew had to evacuate the studio. An NFL Network official said there
had been a false alarm at the studio. The alarm did not effect
pregame preparations for the Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles
Chargers across the street. RedZone remained on the game between the
Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills before Hanson and his crew were
able to return to the studio a short time later.

spot in The Associated Press college football poll to give the Pac-12
two top-five teams for the first time since the final ranking of the
2016 season. Georgia remained No. 1 and received 52 of 62 first-place
votes. Michigan returned to No. 2 following a week at No. 3 and
received 10 first-place votes after beating Ohio State 30-24. The
Buckeyes slipped from second to No. 6 and cleared the way for

UNLV will host Boise State in the Mountain West Conference
championship game at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday after
a computer ranking was used to break a three-way tie for first place.
Boise State, UNLV and San Jose State each finished the regular season

other and no team was included in the latest College Football Playoff
rankings, the tie was broken by an average of four computer rankings.
The Rebels had the highest overall average ranking and earned the
right to host the championship game.

Texas A&amp;M is working on a deal to hire Duke coach Mike Elko,
replacing Jimbo Fisher with his former defensive coordinator for four
years in College Station. A person with direct knowledge of the
discussions told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity that
an agreement hasn't been finalized but Elko has emerged as the
school’s top target. Another person with knowledge of the situation
tells the AP that Elko has informed Duke about his talks with Texas
A&amp;M. Elko left the Aggies to take his first head coaching job at
Duke after the 2021 season and went 15-8 in two seasons. Texas A&amp;M
fired Fisher earlier this month, paying a record buyout of more than
$75 million.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) —
Football Bowl Subdivision newcomers James Madison and Jacksonville
State along with five-win Minnesota are bound for bowls because of a
shortage of six-win teams. Those three teams round out the 82
available spots because only 79 teams achieved the six wins necessary
for bowl eligibility. James Madison is 11-1 and Jacksonville State is
8-4 but they are transitioning to full FBS status and wouldn't be
eligible if there were enough six-win teams. Minnesota gets the final
slot based on its high Academic Progress Rate score.

HOUSTON (AP) — The
Houston Cougars fired football coach Dana Holgorsen a day after
finishing his third losing season in five years. The Cougars ended
the year with three consecutive losses, capped by a 27-13 defeat at
UCF on Saturday. Houston was 4-8 overall and 2-7 in Big 12 play in
its inaugural season in the newly configured conference.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP)
— Solomon Washington had 18 points, Wade Taylor IV scored 12 of his
14 points in the second half and No. 12 Texas A&amp;M rallied from a
21-point deficit to beat Iowa State 73-69 in the third-place game at
the ESPN Events Invitational. Taylor, who averaged 29 points in the
first two games of the tourney, hit a foul-line jumper to make it
66-60 with 1:18 to play. Iowa State got 15 points from Milan

crew had to evacuate the studio. An NFL Network official said there
had been a false alarm at the studio. The alarm did not effect

Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills before Hanson and his crew were

championship game at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday after
a computer ranking was used to break a three-way tie for first place.
Boise State, UNLV and San Jose State each finished the regular season

other and no team was included in the latest College Football Playoff
rankings, the tie was broken by an average of four computer rankings.
The Rebels had the highest overall average ranking and earned the

replacing Jimbo Fisher with his former defensive coordinator for four
years in College Station. A person with direct knowledge of the
discussions told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity that
an agreement hasn't been finalized but Elko has emerged as the
school’s top target. Another person with knowledge of the situation
tells the AP that Elko has informed Duke about his talks with Texas
A&amp;M. Elko left the Aggies to take his first head coaching job at
Duke after the 2021 season and went 15-8 in two seasons. Texas A&amp;M
fired Fisher earlier this month, paying a record buyout of more than

Football Bowl Subdivision newcomers James Madison and Jacksonville
State along with five-win Minnesota are bound for bowls because of a
shortage of six-win teams. Those three teams round out the 82
available spots because only 79 teams achieved the six wins necessary
for bowl eligibility. James Madison is 11-1 and Jacksonville State is
8-4 but they are transitioning to full FBS status and wouldn't be
eligible if there were enough six-win teams. Minnesota gets the final

The Kansas City Chiefs began to look more like their Super Bowl selves in the second quarter, and by the end, Mahomes had passed for 298 yards and two touchdowns to rally past the Raiders 31-17.“We're so used to Pat scoring 30 points a game,” Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones said. “We've been so spoiled with that as a team. It might not have started (this season) the way we wanted it to start, but as this offense continues to play, they're going to continue to get better. We're going to get back in that rhythm of Pat scoring 30.”Andy Reid won his 125th career game as the Chiefs coach, passing Hank Stram for the team record. That also made Reid the first NFL coach to hold that distinction for two teams — he won 130 games in Philadelphia.Kansas City (8-3) fell behind 14-0 in the second quarter but tied it by halftime and pulled away after that. Isiah Pacheco rushed for two touchdowns, and Rashee Rice caught eight passes for 107 yards and a TD.“We still have stuff to learn from this game,” Mahomes said. “There were some situations where we didn't execute at a high enough offensive level, but we obviously took a step in a positive direction.
