Barton County Treasurer Jim Jordan was first elected to his post in 2016, taking office in 2017. This week, Jordan announced he will be running for a third term in office. As of Thursday morning, Jordan is the lone Republican to file for the position ahead of the Aug. 6 primary election.

"I've got some good headwind going," Jordan said. "I want to continue forward."

In August 2022, Jordan was awarded a Finance Officer Certificate from Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich. In March, Jordan was recognized by the Barton County Commission for a change in accounting practices that netted $1.3 million in interest directly to the county's general fund.

The deadline to file as a candidate or change party affiliation for the Aug. 6 is June 3. The deadline to update voter registration information or register as a voter for the election is July 16.
